My child is 13 and she is having trouble at secondary school for her behaviour. If someone bumps her or says something unkind she has to do something back regardless. A child bumped her with her elbow and she hit her back, someone said something unkind so she threw something hard at her face. And now she’s been retaliating on a group chat which escalated to a fight at school where this time my daughter came off worse. I feel terrible that it has happened and she got hurt but it’s often her causing it. I don’t understand where to go from this? She doesn’t seem to understand her behaviour is wrong even when she gets hurt from it, I don’t think it will stop either. She is now suspended from school for a couple of days. I am thinking of going back to the consultant who diagnosed her with ADHD and trying medication, does anyone have experience with the aggressive side of ADHD and how meds can help? Thanks

This exact situation is one of the massive problem my 13 son has been having mainly in school, and more often than not leading to exclusion as his reactions massively outweighed the thing that started it. He has always been like this but seemed to ramp up massively since he started high school.
My son started ADHD meds in November, on a small dose to start with. His dose has been bumped up since then and this is one of the areas that I’ve seen the biggest difference. His fuse is much longer now and appears to be handling these types of situations much better.
