So, I am 5' 11' and have been obese practically all of my life, now about 38 on BMI. 20 stones. I consider myself to have "symptoms" of ADHD - mainly inattentive which obviously gives me scope for a bit of puppy like hyperactive and some impulsivity groan. My "CAN'T really care less" attitude about myself is my big time hurdle.....(read executive functioning no doubt)
So. If you care to comment.....
1) Are you mainly inattentive or hyperactive. I/H? 2) Inattentive = Are you slightly, averagely or highly under/overweight? 3) Hyperactive= Are you slightly, averagely or highly under/overweight?
I expect hyperactives to be near perfect/slightly off perfect weight and the opposite for inattentive, but until I get results I would not know for sure.
Please give me an idea (if you want to) by adding your answers.

im underweight, 6 ft 2 and weigh 11.9 st, i have a large frame and i recon im missing about a stone in muscle. however i dowt there would be a correlation between add and weight - having said that there might be an indirect one due to lifestyle - a few years ago i was about right but i got depressed and completely lost my apitite for about a year.
just my 2 cents.
when i was a kid i was short and tubby and lost it about half a year due to starting martial arts - couldnt recomend that enough.

Monkey, which adhd type are you?
QUOTE having said that there might be an indirect one due to lifestyle - a few years ago i was about right but i got depressed and completely lost my apitite for about a year. END
It is the end result that counts...Do inattentive ADHD types have more trouble with weight than hyper, statistically speaking.. I don't have enough data to analyse.
Planetdave bandwagon?? o.O me is confused now.

i have started loosing weight im not on concerta im on stretera or anamoxitine or whatever i read it has been used to help people who binge eat or somthing and i do that from bordom in jobs and life in general and it does seem to have stoped my cravings maybe its just like my brian is geting more nice chemicals so i dont need it from food. Andy do you think planet rock meant wagon wheels or am i just even higher in the eather or on it or somthing? On the weight tip before i setteled down with missy i had to go running twice a day but not for hyper reasons but sleep when i stoped that i went up a jean size every month for a few months it was freeky at the time. Now am just a lard arse with no time for exercise and ADHD doesnt help as am way to tired after family is finished with me for anything.

Andy mate I mean this in the nicest possible way, stop theorising about stuff and get out from behind your computer and go for a walk. It will do you good emotionally and physically.

andy im not dx yet , i think im innattentive more than anything else. i just think there are so many factors that affect weight i dont think you would find much of a correlation.

I have gone from underweight to overweight a number of times during my 42 yrs. I am overweight at the mo. I am hyper/innattentive ADHD, so there is no link between ADHD and weight in my opinion. People need to stop looking for new ADHD traits, haven't we got enough. If we want to people to take ADHD seriously then we need to stop these ridiculous theories.

I'm very short, very fat and ADD with some impulsivity (OH saying 'only some? ') and periods of hyeractivity when I'm extra extra focussed on something. Marriage affected my weight - evening meals and having to cook when really I'd have happily settled for a bowl of fruit and fibre. Now my job is the most sedentary I've ever had... must get back on the Wii Fit.

Im short, fat and happy - physically. My brain-stuff however def needs work ;D
Im hyper and impulsive BUT Im also very OCD with things being in the right place and time and counting and putting everything in "order" - although I dont do the d[=germ thing which my o/h does and is hyperfocussed on this .. dirty door handles and washing hands every 5 seconds and all that.
