I have to admit as I read the title that although I know exercise is sooooo good for me, I am really bad at keeping it up. I have went a whole week without doing squat. Im so not impressed with myself. Need to go and find out about my football team and sort that out. Ive been in London the last month so I havent a scooby doo when it starts. That should sort out my consistency

I trained on and off for years, joined numerous gyms, lasted up to 18 mnths at one! I ran until I fcuk'd my knees. I have bought every gym gadget going and sold them all at a loss. I bought a Wii, lasted three weeks. I give up! I am gonna be a fat, lazy cow.

Why is it so difficult to maintain any exercise plan? I find it difficult as well.. I suppose that's why joggers sometimes have a pacemaker and I don't mean the heart type.

i find it difficult because i just get bored, also there are no immeadiate physical results. usually i get bored before ive given it enough time to get results. or on the time i managed to exercise 5 days a week for 4 MONTHS! (i was really proud of myself ) i didnt notice the physical change until after id stopped but by then i couldnt get back into it ive got a pedometer (andy- i bought it when i was supposed to be getting the vinegar for my washing machine, still havnt bought it) i find that helps with motivating me when im walking i always like to beat my previous days number of steps. like a little competition with myself

Is your paedometer accurate? Write vinegar on it.....
I went to a gym 2-3 days per week for 6 months! Then thought, "don't feel any progress" So, I faded away from it. Disgraceful!!!!!!!!!
The only thing I rep these days is food. I suppose you need a pacemaker, otherwise no fun.

lmao@sherry laura I have always had my workouts forced upon me in a way, but only because I need to be fit to play footie. And I have this passion for footie that Ive always just beaten myself up so that I can participate. Strange person eh:)

What I do when I want to make myself run is forbid myself to listen to a podcast I really want to listen to (like Stephen Fry's podgrams), unless I go out - I always let myself tell myself (oh dear this is starting to sound nutty) that even walking for half an hour while listening to the podcast will be fine - and after 5-10mins I usually start thinking, well I might as well run a little bit, now I am out here...this technique has resulted in the highest success rate so far, even if sometimes I do end up just walking, and sometimes I just never get to listen to the podcast... And for rainy days I recommend Russian kettlebells - they are BRILLIANT, great combination of cardio and weights, even 5mins help!

Heifa that podcast idea sounds sensible not daft. I don't think I would be allowed those kettlebell things, I would break a window or something LOL. Went for a walk and a teeny but of running last night. Swam at the weekend. Feel better for it.

Good idea, didn't realize there's tons on youtube... I don't quite have a set yet - I started with an 8kg kettlebell and have worked myself up to a 12kg one, not very impressive as of yet, but I am hoping to swap up to a 16kg one soon, if I can keep it up!
Twix - just keep your fingers crossed for me that I won't have to continue this post on the "worst stupid injuries" thread ( I have noticed there is lots of scope to drop the thing on your head when doing overhead swings - I always stop as soon as I get tired...)
