Groan, here we go.
Now, I have had periods in my life, probably due to symptoms of hyperfocus or maybe just plain damn determination in some cases, where I have pursued a fitness regime for perhaps a few months or so.
Things I have tried..
1) Age 24 - Gym - 6 months, on average twice per week, 1.5 hours each time. After the 6 months I just felt I was not making progress for some reason, so pow!! that was it.
2) Age 30 - metal frame bolt down punchbag in garage. Fail after 2 months of inconsistent usage. However, when I used it, it was certainly a good thing, but the punchbag was rather concrete like and of course I did not warm up....so injuries blah.
3) errrrr. I think that's it. Amazing efforts eh?
Anyone else care to list their purchases of fitness equipment and subsequent dust cover requirements for said equipment?
And how about successes of fitness plans?

My fitness regimes always fall by the wayside when i start dating someone, i find it impossible to maintain a routine with someone getting in my way...er... i mean sharing my life.
I was always a gym member when i lived back in scotland, but when i moved down here and was a poverty stricken student (money and time!) i just couldn't manage it.
There is a gym in my work for a meagre £2 a week taken straight out of my wages, i could join it but i wonder if that would be the final step that would mean i officially spent my whole life at work!!
I've got weights, a bench, an exercise bike, a treadmill, but no room to use them in, typical eh?

Oh well, when someone is in your way er sharing your life, there are plenty of excuses to exercise....surely it's about doing it together cough. £2 a week lol, epic cost. You have to look towards the future....er like I don't

what u shud do is get involved with a team or go with friends who will not only push u when u r exercising, they will get u off ur rear end when u r feeling unmotivated. My football team has always done me a power of good. Ive started running again and its doin me so good. I can feel my fitness returning day by day. Bring on the new footie season.

I think (and hope) that I have come up with perfect solution for me. I have never been a fan of exercise, hate it and find it boring but I have now got a Wii Fit! And a load of various exercise games. I work up a huge sweat and am ache all over from various workouts but really love it cos when I get bored of one can do another and vary them to get a better work out and I don't have to leave my house! And if I feel anxious or restless, the Wii works a treat! I have muscles at the mo that I never had before! And because some of them are games and you score points, its always an incentive to beat your score so you don't realise you're exercising so much. Highly recommended!!

i like excercising when i actually do it, i work in a sports shop so no longer have the excuse of not having time or money to buy equiptment (discount), i cant go to excercise classes tho, i have no co-ordination whatsoever. i was the one at the back of the class really trying but with my arms and legs all over the place just looking crazy ;D i bought an excercise dvd, which was a great impulse buy! its presented by a fit woman so plenty of motivation, and even tho i cant quite get the hang of the moves, im in my front room so no one can see me! unfortunately tho it only comes out about 3 months a year and then i get bored. oooh i want a wiii now, sound fun

Laura, how would you perform if everyone suddenly looked at you whilst laughing? Instant run out of the room/hide under the mat scenario? I must admit, the wii console does tend to charge me up if I am competing against another human (not very often though) The boxing, needless to say, really requires both controllers to be wireless, that's for sure. I am like a mad puppy. A bit like scrappy-doo, I suppose.

Hmmmm, when I was young I was considered extremely adult, in that I did not really like to play games or be too silly.
Now, I am consider myself to be old before my time. Maybe my biggest hold-up is depression. It's all just too confusing to get my head around. :S One day, I shall rise from the ashes of my non-life lol. (yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, heard it all before says the voice of reason)
In a world of your own lol.

I give the wii fiit 3 months tops...... I you have gone through that already, then congrats......... It'll be 3 months end of this month. And you're dead right, I usually get bored with things, but I never tend to get bored with playing computer games, and that's what the Wii is, which is why its so perfect for me. When I get bored with 1 Wii fitness game, I can get another fitness game! And at the mo I'm not doing the same one every day, which is absolutely fending off the boredom aspect! (Boxing 1 day, yoga another day, aerobic fitness another, EA Trainer another etc) And there's another 3-4 good ones coming out this year and I haven't got all the ones that are already out yet!!! lol So much to look forward to!!!! Yippeee! And, normally on computer games you spend hours on them in one go and get bored, but if you do a proper workout (and are as unfit as me) then you're unable to do this, as too knackered and sweaty and aching etc! So that keeps me interested in it too! (half an hour in one go maybe an hour max if I'm feeling energetic!) PB

Plus, when you go to the gym or fitness class you have all the hassle of planning it, going out to it, getting changed etc, (which is a major put-off factor for someone with ADHD), here you can just do it in your own house with no hassle whatsoever. I just wish I'd bought one years ago! I should contact Nintendo re commission or something! And the games don't need to be expensive if you shop around. One shop will always have the game you want as a loss-leader (oh yes, I well remember my commerce/economics days!). PB

Also, the boxing one (My Fitness Coach - Cardio Workout or others) is a great way of working out your frustration. Just imagine what people you could pretend to be punching!!!!! I do, its great and before you know it you're sweating and have done quite a workout! Great for working out the aggression.

Sorry dave, That comment just sort of slipped out throught the old catflap. That was poor I can imagine some adder thinking "right, I have done all levels of boxing, now to sort out those school bullies" "oi you, bully, come here now" 1.2335435454 seconds later "mummyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, bully hurt me, I don't like wii anymore" Apply similarly to tennis, baseball, hula hoop (probably does work actually) and whatever else. ADDCOPTER er no copter, just ADD

Oh Andy you've obviously not tried wii boxing. after it has taught you the only way to win it is to keep punching then the bullies don't stand a chance pink beauty - there is no guilt trip about gym fees paid and not used and last night I was feeling real crook but half an hour on the step exercise trying to beat my daughters best score sorted me out. and nobody saw when my feet got tangled up. ;D ;D ;D still can't beat my daughter though

PB what exactly is shape boxing?
|
|
|
Post by pinkbeauty on Aug 6, 2009 23:15:47 GMT
Hi forgetnotme, I guess shape boxing is using boxing as an aerobics exercise to get you fit and in shape and boy is it a workout! Its not exactly with a trainer, its more like a game, where they tell you what moves to make and the moves for each arm goes up the screen and if you hit each one you score points. Time time flies for me during the workouts cos I love them. I loved the Wii Fit one too, I just get a bit bored waiting for him to show me the moves all the time in that one and this one gives you a far better workout. If you google it you'll probably find a promotion video or screen shots for it. This is the link for it on gamespot but unfortunately none of the pictures here show the main part of the game which is shape boxing. There are clips of it on the video but they show the training exercises more which I haven't even looked at yet as they aren't the main attraction for me to the game. uk.gamespot.com/wii/sports/goldsgymcardioworkout/index.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gssimilargames&tag=similargames;img;2PB
