you're damn right safensound! would be great to do something...
i didn't reply because; (a) everything's a bit mental in my life at the moment, and... (b) i couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery!
also, the 18th is a Friday, which is a bit poop, surely a weekend would be better for such a thing, then people could get trains places and meet up, sort out summery barbecues (i have no idea how to spell that word!) etc... instead of being in work all day.
anyway, good luck with it! ;D

I actually thought about doing some sort of presentation at some point, basically describing the very colourful life I have lived up until realisation something was wrong, emmm can i change that to include the fact that my life is certainly not grey these days lol.
Anyway back to the point. I think I would be a very good example of how medication works for people like us. Dont give us any and we will run riot lol. We will cause trouble constantly and ruin our potential, and then probably end up on the dole or in prison. If we do get jobs, we will no doubt jump from one to the next, probly because we caused some sort of trouble for ourselves in the workplace.
Give them the meds, granted mine was cannabis and i didnt really know it was medicine at the time, and they avoid trouble, grow into more responsible adults, study and gain qualifications and hence become decent upstanding members of the community. Treat them with respect and understand them, coach them and teach them and they will develop into the magnificent people they were always supposed to be.
Im not quite sure how well it would go down when i tell them my medication was spliffs n coffee so thats something I am going to have to consider. Doing it in time for this years programme is a no go however cos I cant get enough time to do anything right now.

Gary mentioned somthing about there was going to be a confrence in Liverpool but been put back till march due to confrence facility not available till then which is a shame.
Even somthing simple like getting some t shirts done some one was just talking about AC DC logo being ADHD bet could blag some one to do for free then post them out to people on here or maybe to people who need to know about condition send one to number 10.
MM
with ref to your work part of post i've just found help with my work efforts with charity who said they can help me if i state my condition they can be like a key worker and monitor my employment so if problems persist in the future i can refer to them and hopfully sort things out B 4 end up leaving.
Going off track but anyone else experienced anything like this is it hot air or does it work.
Angry wopper add thats me

Hi Guys,
I agree that we need to do something for ADHD awareness week and I've been letting some ideas roll around in my head for a while to see if they develop into something useful. I'm going to give them an airing today and get back to you.

The rumour mill had ADDISS organising something but I can't see anything on their website.
Who declared it awareness day?
There's less than a month left and I'd love to do something but am bereft of ideas. If you've got anything please let me know - I'd travel a reasonable distance to take part in something.

Go paint balling
Altern towers etc we could try get discount just dont ask me to go blackpool as was a craash on ride other week dodgy in my opinion.
Go go carting
go walkin
have a BBQ but might be a bit parky
go ten pin
ice skatin
carol singing
indoor climbing does my bumb look big in this
go for some chow and pub crawl
Or just a city crawl like take everyone round stuff in chosen city or regional city ie Manchester, Birmingham, London, Ediburgh, Cardiff or maybee just London or London Birmingham and Ediburgh. would have to have some one who lived there to do tour idealy.
thats me stumped need some input from you.

I was thinking something that would attract the media. In extremis there is pulling stunts like fathers for justice do - guerilla stylee. Better would be something that gets media attention just by happening rather than being provocative. But it would have to be interesting to them. Everyone and their cat have awareness days - what makes us special enough to warrant attention? Would anyone want to do a marathon stint on a major ride in fancy dress? That would need to be organised quickly so we have enough time to smoooooze the ride owner. Could some 'friends of friends' bring a major city centre to a halt by a 'spontaneous' mass bicycle ride through it? Parliament Square? Fancy dress? Trouble is I can't see enough people turning out to attract much attention - <50 isn't newsworthy unless they are dragged off a roof by the law.

On the other hand look at tianim square one guy against a line of tanks and thoes farthers for justice thats just like one guy. Guy on train track one guy.
Must be somthing if wanted to go down that rout could do somthing that would be seen in positive light like re flowering majour round about to read ADHD 18th or just hiring open top bus with ADHD all over going round westminster giving away stuff with ADHD on not that against direct action if it was worth it which i think it is.
I have also just deleted some stuff as dont want to give real terorists insight into local and national weak spots.

Hi Everyone,
It seems that the dates for ADHD Awareness Week have changed and here in the UK it's now going to be from 21st to 25th September.

Yes ADDISS sent out the following message to members of their Facebook page: With ADHD awareness week coming up at the end of September we need to start thinking about raising the profile of this condition. THis year the theme will be recognising that girls and women have ADHD. By the time they reach puberty things start to go terribly wrong and so it is important to ensure people rcognise the signs in girls from a young age.
This year ADDISS will be launching the first in a series of helpline booklets. This first booklet entitled High School Girls with ADD and ADHD will be lpublished during ADHD Awareness week. ADDISS also reminded people to sign the two petitions. Here at AADD-UK we think that one of the most important things we can do for awareness week is to make the NHS realise that we are here, that we need better access to services, not only diagnosis, but also therapies and support--in short everything in the Guidelines so to that end we're making leaflets and templates that everyone can send to their trusts (we'll provide the contact details as well) and we'll include details about the petition. We'll make it as easy as possible for people to write. So for example, this forum has slightly over 400 members and if everyone sent a letter during ADHD Awareness Week, that's a lot of letters going to the various trusts. There'll also be a template for writing to the local press because now that there are over 1,000 signatures they should be a lot more interested.

I supose its about raising awarness part of the mission statment of this site. Like swimming the mersey 5 times and getting sponsored but managing not to drown or get poisoned by the mersey bergers as we called them as kids. And it being reported in the media so its got to be quiet clever in a short space of time gain attention, idealy you would have a celeb to spotlight your campain at some event or protest.

As a taster, here is the template letter that can be sent to local NHS trusts, and we've also now got a bunch of leaflets as well. I'm going to start a separate thread here explaining it all, and we're also aiming to get a section of the website up that has all the details. But essentially the idea is this: Since most of the mental health trusts seem to be waiting for primary care trusts to commission/fund ADHD services (as evidenced by the responses to our letters), it seems like a good idea for all of us to send letters to our local primary care trusts reminding them of the NICE Guidelines as well as their legal duties so that they can blasted well start commissioning/funding ADHD services. My own PCT is claiming that they only need a service for 25 people!! And that's despite the fact that my area has a population of 200,000!! Other PCT's have similar attitudes so we clearly need to let them know that we exist. So if everyone sends them a letter during ADHD Awareness Week they will learn. The letters and leaflets will have more of an impact if we send them at more or less the same time. Attachments:
