How are these things taught now?
I'm so old (how old are you dave?) that I learned times tables by rote in class (chanting together is quite social and if someone makes a mistake it's drowned out by the others = no shame) and we had spelling tests every week - which works out great for competitive bods like me.

i remember the times tables chanting, i think they still do that now. i just used to move my my mouth tho, ive never quite got the hang of times tables, i cant spit the answer out like most people i have to use my fingers still! ;D
boo i dont remember that ;D
i remeber the programme kes and the magic 'e' wizard, that doesnt sound to good tho, we didnt have magic drugs, it was just a wizard telling us about 'e's that go on the end of words ;D

haha dave are you sure ;D
my children were taught the times tables in their junior school by means of a grid. They called it the torture square. (the school did that is)
pretty accurate description eh
