Hi all,
I'm new to these pages and arrived here whilst searching the web for some answers.
Two and a half years ago we fostered a new born baby who we're now in the process of adopting, as she's developed she's turned into a whirling dervish with some odd traits that led me into looking at whether she could possibly have ADHD. I had absolutely no knowledge of this condition and any understanding I thought I had was based on assumption.
To my surprise and concern, as I researched more and more into the disorder I found myself identifying with the traits which led me to take an online test that was devised in conjunction with the WHO. In the test I scored 4 and 7 respectively which prompted me to visit my GP who did another, similar test which I scored 7 and 7. My GP has referred me for further tests but tells me that the waiting list is up to and possibly beyond two years.
As you can imagine I'm staggered to think that I've reached the age of 58 yet the potential of having this condition hasn't been identified, it also holds the key for me in why I've struggled throughout my life in key aspects of career and relationships.
I'm now desperate to find out more but can't wait two years to speak to a professional, nor am I likely to be able to afford to go private so you can imagine my frustrations, I potentially could have a condition that has influenced my life but can't get help for at least two years.
Could anybody offer any advice/guidance or clues as to how to move forward?
