Is not sticking to things an ADHD trait?. The only thing longlasting is my partner and house been together nearly 8 years.
I start night school courses dont see them through, buy craft kits cross stitch kits dont complete them, a wi and nintendo dsi never play on them, gym membership never go, diets never stick to, books start reading never finish. Its so annoying and complete waste money.
Any advice stratergies be great please please.

Like you say tho, its a lot down to time too. You're working, in a relationship, running a home etc, its hard to fit in much after that anyway? Its infuriating with courses tho, i wont tell you the money i've wasted too!!
I can cope with a few unfinished craft things!!
The last time i joined a gym i became pregnant in weeks & was so sick i wasted months of the year subscription!! Plus it was sooooo boring, not for me, long walks better (apart from in the rain)lol
Diets- i don't know where to start! The only diet that has ever worked for me is the cambridge. I'm an all or nothing foodie, i can be very strict with myself on a silly diet like that one, but carbs are my downfall, once i'm on the bread etc weight piles on me. Those sorts of foods (white flour) don't suit me at all. I was a lot lighter last Xmas & am starting again atm..I strongly recommend the low-carbs for weight loss & reducing cravings. I can pm you some info if you want?

Needs to be somethink that realy grabs you I think, and have time for I want to start writing getting into habit of taking pad everywere and when get a spare mo just start writing or drawring illustrating is another one. Maybee kids books or poetry. Or whatever tetrus on your phone can just be a simple pleasure that kills bordom and relaxes you expands the brain into untaped areas of self.
Gyms are horrible I think running in the wild is nice or at night with a dog preffrably your own with your tunes on and the moon and the stars no money required 24/7.

Losing weight is not something that should be tried quickly. 2 things will happen 1) starve mode/on = wait until you stop eating...........and watch all that lovely weight be ruthlessly efficiently accumulated 2) IF you do lose really quick, you can easily end up with this........ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PannusHence why losing 1-2lbs of fat per week, via increased exercise and calorie deficit is a better idea. Don't get hooked into trying 10,000,000 situps per day for abdominal tightening. Tis a pointless exercise as the transversus abdominis is a underlying corset muscle which will do a better job of stomach flattening.. Certainly eating blended food group meals is a good idea. Ultra low fat consumption is a bad thing indeed. Low GI or low G/load foods are good. Anyway, I am sure that most of you know this, so I'll toddle off now. I tell you this as an expert in exercise avoidance weighing only 20 stones........... aaaahhhhhhh ummmmmmmmeeeerrrrr....

I never diet need to but never do only time I ever lost weight was going to allnighters and went all ribby, I heard that if you do some crash diet you losse fat but also mussel ie tone and then when fad diet over you end up with more fat than in the first place and lose tone. I recon its routines we get ourselves into and being easily bored. When I used to go out running like few times a day never lost any weight eating boild rice and tuna etc and am talking over a good few years not religously but fairly frequently when the feeling took me even like moutain biking climbing mountains no prob eatem up all day long never lost any weight. When I stopped the weight I put on over a couple of months was quiet scary as started having big set meals etc so what that proves God knows rant over

meggie, books and walking combined? a lady i work with does a half an hour walk each evening and downloads a book onto her ipod, she started with music but found she got bored and was also walking to the pace of whatever music she was listening to and decided to try an audio book instead. she says its good because she is so engrossed in the book, the half hour/45 mins goes really quickly and cos she wants to hear the next bit, it keeps her motivated to go each night. i spose if you go early enough in the evening and stick to a well lit/populated route, this could work? i know when she frst told me about it, i thought what a really good idea for myself....... funny enough i never did get round to it

Meggie i'll be your ahem..excercise buddy!! ;D I knowww you should lose weight slowly Andy but i can't be arsed with it, & prefer to starve myself on shakes for a few weeks!! Actually Cambridge is really good as i can't be bothered to eat well during the day as i'm rushing around, so the vit packed meal replacements suit me...The weight loss is fast, but whatever way i do it my weight fluctuates anyway...& i'm too impatient to lose a 1lb a week! Okay getting pg at the gym!! Maybe i subconsciously became pg to avoid going!! ITs another story! I'm way too fertile lol Changing the subject(!) i will source the info for you meg x

I just want to re-iterate part 2..in case it gets overlooked amongst all of my other text. 2) IF you do lose really quick, you can easily end up with this........ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PannusThen of course, the cycle starts all over again as person, now with pannus, tries to "get rid of it" I don't know what the stats are for pannus potential versus weight lost per week......so I can only mention that Pannus is quite nasty for those who have it.

Needs to be somethink that realy grabs you I think I agree. I've managed to stick at martial arts and graphics making purely because they really captured my interest. Whereas I've tried taking music lessons, buying games consoles, and things like that to try and make myself more interesting but I've never stuck to them. I find it difficult to stick to diets too. I've put on weight since I was made redundant in December last year and I keep saying I'm going to go on a diet to lose that extra weight but just a few hours in I'm back eating my normal foods.

Do you find yourself starving hungry on cambridge diet? I might try it as I to get frustrated with losing a pound week. I want to feel good again, i feelt great in May but since being of work ivd put loads weight on , i think eat cause bored, and its comforting.
I hate excercise, been to gym three days on trot only do half hour cardo and weights for legs arms etc plus 100 sit ups. But today could only managed 13 minutes cardio plus weights and sit ups, terrible, i'm so un fit its unbeliverable.
Are you hyper like me? how do you concerntrate at work? I only ask cause i have problems and get easily distracted.
Boo love the audi books idea, gonna write it down in ideas book, and give it try thanx.

Hi meg, i'm feeling a bit put-off now!! Read Andy's link!! I dont want one!! LOL
Well the Cambridge basically puts you into Ketosis, a by-product of which, reduces hunger & cravings..so enabling u to stick to the 500cals...Its perfectly safe, reduces your BP, lessens the need for insulin if diabetic, as it regulates blood-sugars. Also good as it 'rest's' the pancreas, good if you're a sugar addict..You have to read about it, as i can't remember all the jargon, (you're not really living on 500cals, you're burning u're body fat for calories)
Definately read their website..http://www.cambridge-diet.com/
I can only say i do ok on it, but we've all got to do whats right for us..I'm sticking to low carb atm as my BP went up on Concerta, so i'm trying to be really careful with salt & sugar etc..
Did you get my message? Simone x

Simone, I wish to understand more about your experience of the cambridge diet. I hope you can answer some critical questions. 1) Since you first started it how much weight have you lost- weight that has stayed off.? 2) The longest time that you have been on it for without any significant, consistent failings. 3) How many times have you been on it or is it a constant way of life? 4) Have you achieved a desired target weight on it? 5) What is your current Systolic Diastolic BP verified by calibrated/trusted devices? and your pulse etc? are they considered very good, good or average? How do you feel? etc etc? 6) Have doctors validated your health overall via blood tests etc? It's good to have more detail as I sure you know that any 500 calorie per day diets (even ones that use ketosis as an additional food source) would usually be ridiculed by most health professionals. Have you had, for instance, bone density scans, or other tests that show that your body systems are intact and not being set up for a failure in the future because they the low calorie diet is in fact leeching from your body - somehow - I am quite interested to know, because I have read about many different eating regimes over the years. So, if one does work, it is something to read about and pass around.
