i have found that if late. so yesteday being in a little bit of a hypo mood i got the hoover out and duster and put on some music fking loud and danced around like freddy mercury in his vid. my wife came in whi has now come bk few.and she just smiled. #it just takes the stress of her and we now have a clean flat for the weekend. use a wiper board to write tasks down. once u get half way down u can smile as u only have half to.you can look bk at what u have achieved and feel gd about ur self. u can do it. dont get pissed of as ur give ur self an even harder time over it. i used to say to my self when i got in. do a task form the board and then u can go on the pc or xbox.iys a gd training excercise but works. i hope that helps. most pplk cant b arsed to do the cleaning so ur not alone its a MAN thing

Well I am glad it is not just me! I feel like I make my whole families lives a complete misery going on about the housework! The most used expression in this house is by me and is,'I HATE housework'!! They whole place is getting in more and more of a state and it would take a miracle or a bunch of industrial cleaners to sort it out!! I know I am not a lazy person because today I spent ages brushing the yard at my ponies stables and tidying up the tack room etc.. I just did it in an orderly fashion and it was not stressful at all. I really enjoyed it and felt great at the end..SO how come. I am unable to get the house cleaned up? Typical clean up consists of starting in the bathroom by spraying everything and pouring bleach on every surface. This is because I will definitely have to go back and remove it before anyone can safely go back in the loo!! Onto the kitchen and same kind of thing and them it is def time to make my first phone call. My mum, so I an use the fav expression to her! She hates house work too so that doesn't exactly inspire me to get going again. Then i strip the beds..I was going to dust up there but seen as absolutely no-one goes up there but us, that can wait... This would be a good time to tell you that I have half a tonne of washing to do today and this wash is supposed to be the first, but it will lie in the machine for the duration of this 'clean up' as I will put the powder in the drawer and turn the dial but be in so much of a rush to get on that i will forget to press on!. Then I will phone my husband to tell him, 'I REALLY HATE house work!!. He is so patient and will tell me to go for a walk with the dogs and leave it and he will help me when he gets home..But no this is my job today and I will get something done. Oh yes. after I check me e-mails and see what you lot are saying on the forum. Another quick phone call to anyone i can think and then i will get the Hoover, (wish i had a pink Hettie) and then I move on to the sitting room even though i have have not finished anywhere else..I was going to move everything and go round properly but this not working out for me so i do the bits I can see and am then back in the kitchen and wonder if it is time to put on another wash....AAARGH..Switch on the first one and wander out to the garden. Chat to the dogs and then back in again.. You can see where this is going? So I end up not getting much done at all apart from a quick tidy up and then later on at night when I am shattered and want to have a bath, I have to clean it all up first and then when the bath is over and it's time to sleep, I have to make the bed!! No wonder I have nightmares! It is just so debilitating...Why can't I be organised? Oh well, we will just keep living in this guddle.. Least the ponies have a 5 star existence..

We ar both untidy me an my partner so spend hours tidying and im always decluttering to clutter again. Im traning my brain to do one room at time but its hard as i want to wandr. And yes i do get distracted by phone calls which i make and somedays feel ive achieved nothing. Its definately an adhd thing frustratinley.

Haha... as in flitting about.. Yip that sounds like it..I keep thinking it would be nice to get an absolutely brand new house and just take the stuff from here that i need and like and leave the rest..I have a friend who did that and it has always appealed to me..I just have SO much stuff everywhere..WHY!!!

Because it makes yours house feel homely and unique and things have sentimental value thats my excuse anyway.

this is amazing, women like me ;D yep i flit around too, or ill start tidying and find something i havent seen in ages (photo albums, memorie boxes, clothes, jewellery ect) and spend ages looking at it getting completely sidetracked and then dont go back to tidying and when i do its too late. my mum bless her is going to come to my house 1 day a week starting next week to try and help me get some order, its soo messy i dont know where to start!
she also keeps my bank card for me to stop my impulsive spending, its working. but i find it so frustrating,
im lucky that my parents help me but id like to be independant from them, i moved out 7 years ago and still get soo much help from them, i take my son down most days so he can be fed because ive either forgot to buy essential ingrediants for a meal (not that i do much cooking from scratch, remembering the ingrediants, following a recipe, resisting distractions while cooking and remembering to go back if you do leave the kitchen! how can anyone do it) or putting it off, because i find shopping overwhelming and stressfull.
thankyou for sharing your untidyness ;D

Yes, so homely I have not taken down the Christmas decorations in 4 years... I wish i could just get rid of some of it.. Why have I kept every tooth that came out my children's mouths? Every picture they drew or painted? My youngest girl has moved into her big sisters room and I just can't get round to turning the pink nursery complete with mobiles and books etc, into a guest room. Everyone who stays the night here has to sleep in among all that PINK!!! I mean why am i sitting here moaning about it when I could be filling boxes? Bet it's still like that in 10 years...

Its just housework is so boring, its easy to get distracted thats mt excuse anyway. Laura i know what you mean about cooking from scatch the amount of stuff i burn is un true and thats using a kitchen timer.

Ive had some real bad bouts of this lately. I am so determined to get things done and once I start them trying to follow through is a complete nightmare. Painted my toilet ceiling and it needed a second coat. That was more than a week ago and ive still not done the 2nd coat. I have been doing other things though, like OCD cleaning my woodwork round my house etc (which is half finished). In fact as I look round my house, it is like an ADHD showhome lol. My kitchen is half finished, as is the rest of the rooms. I have sporadic moments of DIY and housework and they go before I get them finished. Ive just cheered myself up a bit writing this its that laughable.

my bathroom, bedroom, kitchen ceilings still need a second coat and its been at least a year i also need to finish painting my bedroom, sons bedroom, kitchen, bathroom walls and finish stripping the walpaper on my stairs that i started when i moved in nearly 4 years ago! i too just have sporadic moments of diy/decorating/cleaning that dont last, and i usually start at the most stupid times (stripping wall paper at 8.15 when i need to get out the house and get my son to school!) you do have to laught tho or id just spend my time crying, with frustration at myself

I hate tidying....why?....it's because I know the cycle. 1) Start tidying after building up plenty of intention points over the last few months. 2) Fury of tidying (one room lol) feels quite good until I realise I'm just playing the "shuffle room around" game. Intention points quickly run out......... 3) Once that negative feeling kicks in..............why bother? ? does it matter anyway? who cares? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
