Hi all
Ok - I have been assessed for ADHD the consultant says it looks like ADHD we are dealing with here and has sent me for ECG's etc etc my assumption is to prepare me for medication - do they offer counselling too etc if so what? do they tell me how much i have it or not? - they mentioned local support there is nothing in our town, i dont see the point in seeing a counsellor etc who is not trained in ADHD i have had years of psychology not one picked it out it was going to a private counsellor that did - their lack of knowledge (i know is not their fault) however it makes me mad how much have we been through? would a complaint help we are obviously the first in this town i want to make it easier for others and dont want counselling by someone who has zero knowledge of what they are dealing with ....
Anyway the other question... I have read the you me or ADD book (brilliant well recommended !) I am seeing ADHD in other people is this right once fully aware? I can pick out ones that haven't ones that have and ones that have possibly another friend such as ODD etc does borderline come as a friend dot hey rule this out? def have Dyspraxic traits i have a friend who is diagnosed...
Is this right am i overanalysing? Can you pick it out that easy? I know everyone shares certain traits etc they have to be exaggerated right? can you see it in a 3 year old for example ? are eating disorders common as a way of control as you feel out of control?
Also when i go back do they check me for other morbidities and rule them out?
Also my partner is in the process of being referred to the same specialist - is there anything that looks like ADHD thats not bipolar just so i can have a look at it - he scores higher than me on all the ADHD checklists i think i am 99% sure he def has it too...
does that make sense? prob not knowing me !
Any replies would be great thank you
