I sometimes feel like I am more attached to my friends and social surroundings than others. Basically, I feel really happy and that my life is a lot more fulfilled when I enjoy the company of a lot of friends that I like and have lots to do. Conversely, in situations where a job forced me to move to a big city where I did not know anyone and struggled to make friends at work, I found that my outlook on life and on myself was very negative (even though it wasn't my fault, it was because of the circumstances). Other people I know cope with these situations just fine, or at least it doesn't affect them as much.
Does this have anything to do with ADHD? Or is it more about my personality and likes/dislikes? Just thought I'd ask to see if others here feel the same sometimes.

oh I so feel like that! I feel as though I often form unhealthy attachments to people and leech onto them too much and if one of my friends says anything to hurt me I hate them. I love/hate in equal measure. People have said for years I'm all or nothing. I'm starting to think that is ADHD.

I'm not sure Hitman, but I can relate. I didn't ahve many friends at school, n always preferred adult company, but I would latch onto one person at a time. They were always like teachers or someone in a professional place, n they would move jobs or whatever n I'd be so upset I'd cry for hours.
I used to get butterflies when they were around n feel so happy, but when they ahd gone I'd get down, especially if I was due to see them but something happened that stopped it, like they were ill or wahtever!
I didn't think anyone else would have felt that way, so I can breath abit more knowing it wasn't just me who felt like that, sorry it doesn't help you though. I look forward to seeing other replies in here about this, see how many others have had the same thing/feelins etc etc.

Your replies give me a familiar feeling so I'm starting to think that maybe it is the ADHD. Looking forward to more people sharing their thoughts on this as it is not something that can be clearly noticed.

I'm pretty much detached. I can see people day after day for a week and then not really be bothered if I don't see them for 2 months. Good innit?
