I've been noticing this huge contrast lately. I have a very good long-term memory and there are lots of events in my life that I can replay as if they just happened. These memories also pop out randomly when my mind is wandering off.
However, when it comes to short-term memory (specifically at work) I feel like I need to note down a lot of things that are said to me otherwise I forget them and end up not doing them correctly.
Isn't it a bit strange to have a good memory in general but when it comes to short term memory at work it becomes a completely different story? What's the reason behind this? Can anyone relate?

If your short term memory is good then you probably don't have ADHD - it's one of the principal symptoms and what the main medications try to combat (neuro-transmitters blah blah complicated chemistry).
Long term memeory (I saw the spelling mistake but I'm leaving it in!) is unaffected by ADHD though some of the co-morbidities might.

My short term memory seems to be knackered! My long term is better but I have found alothouth I have no recolition of an event imedietly afterwards I find down the line maybe six months a year or More I can recall the event and this generally comes in negative thought patterns But other things just go my ex wife claims one time I was in floods of tears and hugging my old girl But I don't recall that And when she told me I said that she was crazy and that wouldn't happen I still can't recall this even muster up a mental picture of it ever happening?

I seem to recall all sorts of things from my past with absolute clarity and detail, but many other things are totally gone as if they never happened. Is this typical? I only know about this because people (I trust) have told me certain things that I have no recollection of.

You can have a good long-term memory and still not remember everything.
