Hi all, Hope that you are all doing as good or better than can be expected. I'm still waiting for my ADHD consultation at the Maudsley. Jeez the journey is going to be terrible I think lol. Anyway, I'm doing a good impression of a roundabout and its not good. Anyway, I need to phone the maudsley soon. I'm wondering how the 6 month+ users of meds are doing in general. Please complete the poll accurately and don't forget to click post etc lol.

I'm pretty hyperactive and used to be on 200mg of Ritalin a day as a result - I wish I was joking lol. Since I had my first consulatation at the Maudsley over the summer they have freaked out about the whole 200mg thing (which was working by the way) and have put me down to 70mg a day as a maximum. I'm still better than pre-meds but I really am struggling.
I'm re-doing a-levels for the third time and am in my final year. It was going really well until my meds started reducing over summer - now ever since I started back at school in September it's been such a fight. I know I can't be on 200mg a day, but I can't carry on like I am either so it's really tough.
I've been to the Maudsley four times and am due to be booked in for another appointment after a meeting with my CMHT now that I have reached my target dose. I really hope they've got a plan because I've exhausted all of mine!!
Sorry that turned into a mini vent/slight panic!
Tee a hee

I got so much paperwork done today, would have been unthinkable without them. Still have side effects (appetite is sometimes bad, forget to drink cause I don't notice I'm thirsty and dry mouth) but totally well worth it, life is so much better with the meds.

Feeling more improvement as time goes on.. Wasn't convinced at first..I'm more steady, noticing slower thought processing, calmer.. Wouldn't say dramatic improvement in focus, but overall better. Probably ought to add not suffering from adverse side effects, so feel ok with taking them, not sure id bother if i felt crappy.

find i can keep on task better but still struggle with distractions around me and being able to get back on task if interupted. when the office is busy and buzzing at work, i still wish i could wear some earmuffs or hide away in a broom cupboard, 'specially if i am try to get my brain to work on something which really requires some decent concentration.
i tend to remember things i need to do better (not at work though when there can be too many things and i get overload still), and i have come to the conclusion that there is still much work to do and meds are simply an aid to step onto the self help ladder.

I agree with everyone re much better with Meds but also getting the right kind of employment does help a lot so something where you can get up and walk around as part of the job and not just sitting at a desk all day ! I am a dispensing optician so good mix and very visual also ! I used to love waitressing as it was all movement but unsociable hours and low pay !I also moved faster than everyone else and was in danger of knocking others over LOL !
