I don't know if you could say I'm "prone" to them. I'm pretty sure I had at least one as a child - but, I had one when I was 24 (I think, memory sucks) and the whole side of my face swelled up. Nasty! I only really mention it because, I understand ear infections in adult are pretty uncommon! Oh, it was the left ear, for the record. I think it could well have been due to the fact that I've had psoriasis in my ears (as well as my scalp, and patches on other parts of my body) most of my adult life. Very unpleasant disease. But at least I'm never short of anything to pick at I would be shocked if it has anything to do with ADHD, tbh lol

I had loads as a child. I had so many that I ended up with scarred ear drums and I was deaf for a year, till the scars healed. I dont do things by half me!

Yes! I practically lived on that yellow penicillin medicine when I was younger. However it was because my ear drum perforated when I was young (3 years old ish) and failed to heal until I was about 12 years old!! So much pain, so much puss, so much antibiotics.
I had speech development problems as a result, originally I was speaking very advanced for my age, but then as time went by I apparently started saying things wrong... I can't remember the story anymore.

I was a repeat sufferer as a child, but haven;t suffered for years, although I still feel the first signs of a cold in my ears.

I had glue ear which was operated on, followed by years of ear infections as a child, perforated eardrums - one of which had a skin graft put on when I was 16 and is now virtually missing. I've had ear infections as an adult but nothing like the once every two months infections as a child. I have tinnitus too and always have had.

I was a grommet kid too. When I was 3 they realised I was deaf, and they thought I'd need a permanent hearing aid. Had several sets of grommets in both ears during childhood. I'm in my late 30s now and can hear OK now (drs say one ear is slightly below average and my eardrums are scarred). I do get tinnitus / dizziness as a first sign of illness. Cold infections often affect my ears - but disappears its own (usually).

I wouldn't say "prone" as such, I had a really nasty infection when I was about 12 and it burst my eardrum.

I'm probably tempting fate, but I don't think I've ever had an ear infection, though I do have moderate tinnitus...

I had ear problems & hearing problems all through my childhood, had grommets fitted too, mum thought i was partly deaf, was in & out of the ear, nose & throat clinic all the time, still suffer with URTI's a lot now, had them all my life. They thought my son had glue ear too, until he was diagnosed with ADHD at 14.
Has anyone ever taken a look at the link between dairy intolerance in atopic families & ADHD.. its interesting stuff?

Quite a few times in my life yes...they are ugly...bleeding out of your ears is noooottt goooddddd they were the cause of my having to have hearing tests til i was 9. My medical notes say glue ear on the very first page and do carry on for quite awhile, more spaced out now, maybe once every few years or so, but never had anything medically looked at, no grommits or anything, although interestingly my neice had to have them...relevant irrelevant? fuk it I was interested to read that glue ear is common with ADHD, but was more interested to read that it could be a trigger/signalling of learning difficulties, as hearing difficulties make it so someone is literally identifying/hearing/learning 'wrongly', or thats the theory i think?

Oh this is interesting.
In one of the books I have read since diagnosis I remember the author reporting the results of a doctor friend. This doctor kept records of the “other” problems reported by his patients with mental health problems or maybe simply stress. His results were unpublished but the list was interesting; the one that struck me was “Ear Ache” (who would have thought it.)
I can’t remember for the life of me where I read this and can’t find the bit I read without rereading all the books. It’s driving me nuts because that means I could be having an ADHD memory failure and leading you astray. I also can’t remember if the book was about ADHD or not.
The point is I am plagued with intermittent ear ache, which starts as irritation and flares up with stress. I don’t know whether the stress is as a result of increased ADHD problems or the other way round.

Don't know about the infections in themselves, but know of the feeling of flare ups and discomfort. It was so bad in my teens, obviously i now associate that with the fact my body has rarely known relaxed. My jaw cracks and allsorts, prob due to the fact i never noticed just how much i clench my jaw. Some of my discomfort in my ears comes from this and not just too much sepultura!!!

I can very much recommend colloidal silver for ear infections, it is applied to the ear so means you don't have to cope with a full on antibiotic in the body
Cheers

Ive had ear infections as a kid, then a VERY severe one at age 21 and have been plagued with them ever since. I'm now 45. I've learnt how to monitor and avert them now, through bitter experience. Nothing worse than a full-blown ear infection, it's even worse than a tooth abscess, and I've had both :-(
I have been told that I have a sharp bend in my ear canal which means moisture gets trapped there, leading to infection. I can't wear ear plugs for the same reason and I can't wear those in-ear headphones as they don't fit in.
