Okay I know that it is a bit of a strange thread but does adhd have anything to do with why I have a drive sky high . And if anyone shows an interest then I have been terrible in the past , especially if I have had a drink . Also experimentation and the bizzare is like a magnet as I feel that i get really bored of normal or supposedly normal sex . Now they need an emoticon for blushing through shame

It fits with the risk taking/stimulation craving nature of ADHD so we're likely to have a higher than average sex drive. I have noticed (in depth and serious research program ) that neurotypicals tend to be less interested than I am IYKWIM so that proves that then!

yeah there does seem to be some kind of connection, there doesnt seem to be much on the web, i could only find this add.about.com/od/adhdinadults/f/Sex-ADD.htmbut there is a chapter about sex in the book, is it you me or the adult adhd? that goes into depth about how it affects different people

i find i go from a high labido to not wanting it! depends on mood ;D like bipolar i know it is reckonised periods of hypersexuality! with both bipolar disorder and ADHD they both effect neuro transmitters so i guess it is possible to show the same symptoms of bipolar disorder the diffrence is we fly through moods where as with bipolar the mood is over a longer period

I go between being completely obsessed, or having to make a real effort.. Can be dangerous & a really serious issue for some, it was for me when younger..Not now, but should be something more discussed between psyc and patient?

Well im a catholic lol but what they say about convent girls is mostly true haha I second that! But me being male, all I can say is I was the other +1. When at the Maudsley, I raised the question 'Does ADHD give you loads of sexual energy' (I certainly don't need to sleep afterwards, which is generally appreciated) well everyone looked at me as if I was crazy... I found out later they were all I's and not so much hyper. Sadly I do thrill seek (I control myself with all my energy) but it seems to have put me in relationships with Sikh's, Muslims, Catholics. Why was this thrill seeking? There parents and family were so strict, the consequences were dire. Need to find me an Athiest.

Did we not also discuss this last year and conclude that sometimes the idea of sex is easier than sustaining the act itself or was that not researched......enough. ahem. (Damn, we need more samples..of data)

i've noticed that most of you are troubled with a high sex drive. this is to do with the extra buzz (can't see it myself) and can be a form of self medicating. but lets spare a thought for those of us who suffer from hyposexuality (not a typo) then throw into that mix distractability and inattention with a bbbiiiiigggg dose of hypersensitivity to sensory stimulation and unusually not even a little bit of impulsivity. do you think dx and rx may solve this infuriating equation? or maybe i should just stick to f(x), f'(x) dy/ dx and any other bloody x's. etc etc etc ad infinitum ...

FNM, Is that hyposexuality as an official diagnosis or perhaps hormone issues or just stresses of life etc etc.

Forgetmenot, how about (if you condone) medication to help with the inattention and hormone balancers... or something to make you more hyper rather than hypo. Hypersensitivity is usually an issue with most things for me, but for this subject it's just fine (strangely).
Andy, I totally agree. I am currently waiting for 'males with ADHD aged between 18-24 needed for clinical study, must be fine with partnering up with women of equal age'

I can't have sex with the telly on. My ex caught me twice in the past watching Coronation street over his shoulder, well what did he expect.
As for sex now, I would rather have a big bar of chocolate. As for chocolate body paint, I found was easier to eat straight out of the jar.
p.s. don't tell the other half ;-0

Lol at above ;0)
Forgetnotme..Do u find all physical contact uncomfortable, have u ever tried a professional massage? Just wondering if a visit to an aromatherapist would relax you and get you used to contact in a therapeutic way? Plus the oils really work to relax you. Or a head massage, i actually nearly go to sleep with indian head massage, its incredible. Just a thought, must be hard for you xx

Ah, so it's not just me! I think in the past this has caused me to do rather stupid/risky things! Though I had a weird patch a few months ago when I wasn't interested. That's never happened before!

My god, I wish I could turn my brain off. I've had a 'you've got to do research so no women' rule for the past year. Only been able to really keep to the rule since January. I finished the work. I've literally not exercised to breaking point for months, damn, I need to get myself ready now my work rule has expired.
That paragraph makes sense in my mind, I'll probably edit it soon so it does for you too.
Final thought; they need ADHD dating services because heck if they have the same sexual energy + energy it'd be fun. Right, patented.

Hah, I had to write research papers so set the rule that I was not allowed to do ANYTHING but work. I worked damn hard on finishing those (primarily for my MA application for Harvard). After completion I realised I ate too much crap, need exercise - so now it's 'not allowed to do ANYTHING until excercised'. Have to do it this way or what I am supposed to be doing never gets done. Hmm, need a 'not allowed to do ANYTHING until employed' but in this economy I have more chance of a Euro lottery win.
Edit: someone decided to give my bike away, without consulting me.
