Yesterday I went to see a junior general psychiatrist and he didn't think I was extremely impulsive enough to be diagnosed with Adult ADD.
I found this extremely frustrating and felt as if it was a tick box diagnosis as opposed to a full assessment from a somewhat professional Dr. He even asked me what attracts me to ADD!!!!!!!! The whole experience was horrible and it was more like a witch hunt to find depression and at the end of it all he came to the conclusion that I may be Dyslexic!!
Is there anyone who has initially been misdiagnosed but has then gone on to prove they have ADD? Any opinion, advice or thought would be most appreciated.
BREAKING NEWS- I got on the phone this morning to complain about all of the above and it has led to a glimmer of hope; my appoint with the senior consultant is now next week Thursday and thank God not a month later!!!!! Even now I’m worried I will be misdiagnosed again. Is it true if I’m not extremely impulsive then I’m unlikely to suffer from Adult ADD?
Has anyone else successfully reached an Adult ADD diagnosis with out being extremely impulsive? Again any opinion, advice or thought would be most appreciated.

I am very impulsive and the key is having adhd symptoms in childhood . But I have been misdiagnosed with bipolar and personality disorder and was in the system for 7 years and my shrinks used to say that I was an enigma before someone diagnosed adult adhd and my whole life fell into place
