I can tolerate it, I can appreciate it in games, films, but I never seek to buy any tracks ever, and no, I don't download them either. I have a lot of tracks on my pc, due to a retro gaming issue lol, but I have not even gone to my music and clicked play on any for at least a month or more. Generally I don't remember to, but is that because I forget or just my psychology? I would believe the latter choice personally, but I find it so strange that I don't have a need for it.

I go through stages. I really hate loud music, as it hurts my ears and nips my head lol. (best way I can describe it), But if I get a song in my head that I really like, I have to play it over and over again. I can go months without hearing something I really like though. However, it's not just music I'm like that with. TV, internet, PS3, books, films etc. I will like something, almost like an addiction for a period of time, give it overkill, and then be so bored with it that I won't return to it for months.

I don't listen to music at all. I get a mood on me for a very short time where I'll listen to something over and over again, but then it gets on my nerves. Loud music gets on my nerves and I have to shut out sounds and I've got to be quite good at it. I can be in a room for half an hour and not notice a radio playing - either that or I focus on it and it drives me mad. The only radio station I can bear listening to is Radio 4.
I do like music though, which sounds confusing. I can only enjoy it in short bursts, however. The only way I can describe this enjoy/not enjoy thing is like if someone is giving you a massage or a back scratch, it feels really good, but then if they keep on scratching the same spot it gets to be extremely irritating. That's what it feels like with music - great when it's fresh and a novelty but really annoying after a while.
And music when I'm trying to concentrate on something else - well, give me a hammer to smash that radio.
I never thought it was connected to ADHD. Could it be?

I don't think it is connected to ADHD, I was thinking Autism spectrum or the Highly sensitive person label or traits. After all, ADHD has an element of stimulus need so I think people with true ADHD would be eating music like its going out of fashion....but then, thats why I asked in the first place because I know it is strange not to set out to listen to music........

I love music, i love it loud and aggressive BUT i cant listen to music if there is other people there.
Maybe because i find it hard enough keeping up with conversations who knows.

Ah, loud and aggressive, in yer face. I long wondered how that quells ones inner beast?
Badwool, do you find that it calms you down a bit? ie, it's so ridiculously loud that you can perhaps actually think better? or am I clutching at straws?

I have no outlet for my violence which is pent up. I live with my partner and 2 children and would sooner dip my nuts in a vat of acid that be violent towards them soooo.
The music seems to say how im feeling and it helps. Mostly metal music.
On a side note, if i have red mist, i cannot be calmed and if someone tries it fans the flames, much the same way relaxing music does to me.
Weird.
Fight fire with fire perhaps?

Yes, when I tried to be diplomatic at my old job, sometimes people were LOST in their own preconceptions about the diplomacy attempt and more talking just was a waste of time, better a bullet in the head methinks. (well maybe a carrot bullet or something soft)

I love music, all kinds, clasical to metal, i'm obsessed, people wonder why i only have about 10 songs on a CD when i could have 10 albums, and think I'm weird, now theres a first ha, I want all the sound thats there! quality is everything to me, to me what they listen to is a noise.
But if things are going crap, I cant listen, my attention goes and i miss the songs! very annoying and frustrating as I cant handle the thoughts and theres no diversion.

I am obsessed too, don't think I'd be here were it not for the way music makes me feel. I don't listen to anything soothing, I like energy, punk, hip hop, dance music, stuff with that sense of "drive" in it.
I don't really understand what "hyperfocus" means so I wont use that term, but if I like the music that is playing, I can't concentrate on what people around me are talking about, all I hear is the music. I get completely lost in it. I can recognise a song from just the faintest bassline in the distance or from hearing a seconds worth of introduction. No idea if this is connected to any ADHD or ASD or anything. But wouldn't change it for the world.
I would rather hear music than bother with the small talk/rubbish that most people blabber on about anyway!

Hmm I'm in the "I love music" camp...which is just as well as I'm a composition student! However, I can't concentrate with written work when there's music on, as it'll distract me away from what I should be thinking about. I'm normally really energetic but if not, certain music can get me there! When I'm no-longer a jobless student I hope to be able to buy more music. ;D
I'm another who loves heavy metal, though also like some classical, jazz...etc. I don't have it too loud though but that's to do with a problem with one of my ears -nothing to do with ADHD though (spasming muscle when it gets too loud-makes a "broken speaker sound" or banging).

I cant drive without music playing, im obsessive about finding my favourite tracks, have to stop car regularly! Have a ipod thingy waiting for me to download music, but still sat there after months? But each to their own, apart from the car i dont listen to enough in the home, kids take over the house electricals so just let them get on with it!
Anyone know how to de-scratch cd's?

Anyone know how to de-scratch cd's? If it's an actual scratch, unfortunately you can't. If it's just dirt, a soft cloth will do.

Music is a major part of my life. I very rarely switch the tv on. I have thousands of tracks (shiver me timbers) and as soon as I come in from work my music goes on (oooh aaarrghh n a bottle of rum). LMAO

Anyone know how to de-scratch cd's? I got a scratch remover machine thingy, it works, cost about 35-40 couple years ago, better ones now, it rescued a lot of cds, saving money! i'v seen plenty about.
