Hey, I've recently been thinking that perhaps I have ADD, but I may just be a chronic procrastinator.
I started looking into ADD while trying to solve my huge self-discipline problem. I find it extremely difficult to get myself to do any "boring" tasks. I have even dropped out of a university course because I put off doing the assignments until the deadline.
Even for tasks which I want to complete (my personal goals) I can't seem to get myself to do them at all.
I also never read fiction books because I get bored very quickly. Even when watching films I often turn them off after 20 minutes if I'm not interested.
I own about 200 factual books on various topics like health, nutrition and finance. I think I have read perhaps 2-3 of these books all the way through. The rest of them, I just read a chapter or a small section I'm interested in and then I never look at them again. I love learning and I want to find out more about these topics (that's why I purchased the books) but once I get the general idea I find it difficult to read through the details.
I also have a problem with self-control. I frequently binge eat whole packets of cookies or bars of chocolate. I try and eat healthy for the most part but I still struggle at times.
This is a huge problem for me in my life. I constantly feel like I'm not living up to my potential because I can never get myself to do the things I want to achieve my goals. I don't really care if it's ADD or not, I just want to change it. I'm obviously not looking for a diagnosis on here, but I'd be interested to hear what you guys think about my situation.
I recently purchased some herbs (Ginkgo Biloba & Ginseng) as I have read that these can have a positive effect of people with ADD. Once they arrive I will start taking them to see if I notice any difference. I may also go to my GP but I think this route will be a lot quicker for now. I'd be interested to here if anyone here has tried these and what their experience was like.
