Of course! I become the demon tidier and go into massive overdrive. Really nasty for husband and child - I think I said on another thread, I'm like those avenging angels from Indiana Jones. I think it's just the 'immediate consequence' thing we need to get motivated - it doesn't matter if the visit has been planned for months - no steady bit by bit preparation, it all has to happen within about 24 hours of the visit to get me moving and then it's a period of utterly focused clearing up.

Also, when they are there, I can pass myself off as a normal housewife. Ha ha!!

IS it that "all or nothing" mentality?
Until it's really really right in your face, you defer/procrastinate indefinitely. Russell Barkley has made plenty of points about the lack of persistence, lack of attention to detail etc etc and a "living for the moment" behaviour.
How far ahead does an Adder think? 1 min, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week? how does this change after medication? etc etc
Phil, did you actually mean that the thought of visitors makes you tidy up in advance, or visitors are a sort of "+10 to tidying" powerup?
Maybe adders work best in packs eh? as long as not more than 2...

ok in my house I have a half tiled bathroom that still has the spacers in it. been like that for 3 months now maybe I will finish it one day. as far as housework goes, i have been know to hoover and dust around my guests as they are arriving!! Laundry is done in stages, washing mching bit is easy, then maybe a day or so later they will be transferred to tumble dryer. Usually they never get as far as the wardrobe. straight from wash basket to wearing then back to linen basket!!

Yes, me too, I only clean if people coming around, and even then its a mad dash, usually when trying to get myself ready at the same time. One thing I ofen do is... I'll get out of the shower, and while getting towels around me, I'll think...."oh god I haven't cleaned the bathroom in ages", so I'll do it right there and then! It starts off with "I'll just do the toilet", then I may as well do the sink too, and then oh, the bath looks dirty, no point leaving it. All while dressed only in towels! That's how I get things done!!

angle yes I do that too! but I think well at least i am cleaning it! LOL
When I had a party in June this yr for my daughter, I actually got the paint out and painted over the walls in the house, which took 3 days and would hv been quicker to clean, but i found the painting so much more satisfactory than cleaning LOL

I do that too Angle! In fact I've cleaned the shower before whilst still in it - generally when I see the bottle of cleaner stuff on the side (still there from the last time)! Then the bath mat turns into a floor mop using the water I've splashed everywhere before chucking it in the wash!

i do that too brushing my teeth can take an hour sometimes coz i notice how dirty the sink is then decide to just clean the toilet then just clean the whole bathroom, not so good when you have to be somewhere tho, but at least its clean i do tidy for when people come round (which is not very often) but its just the kick up the bum i need. my mum used to come round once every couple of weeks to help me but she gave up because the magical messy fairies had turned the house upside down again by the next day, i just dont understand how it all gets so messy so quickly

God, you have a problem with 'magical messy fairies' too? I thought it was just me! Ha ha!
I'm usually knackered when people come over, because I've spent the whole day tidying up. I can't plan things out in advance either.
And I'm such a slob. I pick things up off the bedroom floor to put in the washing machine. I have a laundry basket, but it's all the way through in the bathroom. And it's usually full of my husband's clothes that I haven't washed...
