Silly me for not knowing what a knockout mouse is! I found the following three definitions on the web:
1. A mutant individual, in which a single functional gene has been replaced by a non-functional form of the gene. Used to understand gene function via the comparison of the phenotypes of wild type and knockouts
2. The deletion or deactivation of a gene in a mouse or other laboratory animal in all cells, including the germ cells, to create a line of animals that are incapable of producing the gene product.
3. Gene targeting; for instance, a knockout mouse is one in which a single gene is inactivated ("knocked out"), leaving other genes unaffected; provides the best way to delineate the function of a gene.

thats great news Roland! Well done for finding that. Very resourseful as ever! BTW I think you read the amount above by mistake, I read it as listed below. Still alot of money for some very substantial and important research. horray!

I can see why you thought that Missfit, the way they've listed the awards and amounts can be very misleading, but if you start at the top, the value is above what its being awarded for and I think the £622,644 figure is correct for ADHD. But I totally agree, in order to work out what figure goes with which award, is very confusing!!!
