Has anyone read 'Getting Things Done: How to Achieve Stress-free Productivity' by David Allen
Just wondering whether to buy it.. I need a system of some sort but doubt whether I can get into the habit or commit to getting a system in place. I cannot bear the thought of yet another decade of just getting by, by the skin of my teeth, day in day out.

Have you tried a white board on the wall , and splitting things into bite sized chunks . Needs to be somewhere where its in your face constantly though

mavster - misread your post as have you tried a white board and spitting at it... initial thought 'that might work'.
I did once try a reporter's notebook hanging from my belt but I looked like I was ocd'ing on admin and I never had a pen when I needed one - so looked inadequate. I currently use a small diary for the work-related stuff and appts but doesn't take into account the bigger picture / the big ideas I have which don't amount to much.

I haven't read that particular book but I'd love to get things done! ;D I got a few self help books from the library and I find them overly crap lol the authors are obviously psychosomatic and have cured all there ailments by using there own techniques! You can expect the same old crap give up smoking! This is a fact and you can research it yourself 100% of people who give up smoking die! Give up drinking! Give up doing drugs! Give up red meat! Give up tuna! Go to the gym! Life on pulses beans and nuts! Start doing yoga! Go to bed early! Pretend you are a monkey! Put you're tongue on the end of a square battery! How do you get things done when you have to read up in a big book of somebody else's belief's and theories ;D
