Right my house is a mess I don't open the curtains the dog is lucky if she gets walked my wheelie bin is full but not out I'm on the sofa all day doing bugger all just wasting the days away :/ on the surface this may seem like classic unipolar but I'm not sure? As folks have witnessed me snoring, turning blue, and speaking cod shit in my sleep! That can only be one thing disrupted sleep apneoa and as I feel tired all the time that could be due to poor quality sleep! My boy lewis was pushed around the nhs system at first they suspected he had glue ear and was going to operate and give him gromits! That's before the ADHD dx before all that we was carting him from pillar to post as his lips would turn blue at this time he was totally coherent so it was not epilepsy so the doctors suspected it was his heart? Turns out there was nothing wrong with his heart I was listening to duncan barkes on talksport this morning and he was on about sleep apneoa a bloke phoned in about his 3 year old son that snored and turned blue lewis is naughty but not active he snores in his sleep and is putting loads of weight on I was just like him as a child and it makes me ponder if we suffer sleep apneoa and it is not depression?

Sounds plausible that you are too tired to be bothered with things. But that lethargy might also in a roundabout way lead to depression.. I found when I was unwell that I couldn't get house work done, then I got down about the state of the place, then it got to a point where I couldn't be bothered as it felt like the work involved in sorting it out was too mucch to contemplate so then I got more depressed.

Out of sight, out of mind. Build up your intention points to do something, but they run out quick. Barkely says "adhd is an intention/motivation deficit disorder" (I prefer ailment) Why not plain old dysthymia as a link on top of adhd? Sometimes takes 20-30 years before diagnosis, usually because people are like jack dee the comedian. People think his expression and method is an act, but he admitted having depression and drinking for years. Dysthymia is a mood disorder. Cause=whatever..... ADHD/ADD/autism/mood disorders/affective disorders/personality disorders/endocrine issues...... the list of debilitating/demotivating causes goes on..... Only the person who takes "the medication" that works for them, really starts to begin to understand that their clouded life was not meant to be like that.. I would say that a chronic (long term, say months/years), mild to moderate depression/can't be bothered syndrome/low energy that is effectively alleviated by drugs was perhaps more a mood disorder or add (or whatever else) or caused by a person who is susceptible to the depression label. The thing is, for attention deficit disorders in anyone, some drugs will always work, but for some the benefits are perhaps increased with a compatible anti depressant as well. No one can be sure unless they carefully experiment. The worst thing is not paying attention to drug interactions, ie alcohol with benzo's (valium etc) If you, phil , can suddenly do things in an energised state without fatiguing more than the average person, then I would say that you are not really depressed as per the diagnostics but you (and many others ) just suffer from depression symptoms? due to the possible adhd and whatever else may be accompanying it. I have energy issues for sure and I'm only 37. Some people are running around at 50........where's the logic other than I'm possibly dysthymic with attention deficit disorders and autism + social avoidance, blah blah or social indifference? ? Whatever!!!!!!!!!! lol books.google.co.uk/books?id=omdC4sreMN0C&pg=PR17&lpg=PR17&dq=what+is+dysthymia+russell+barkley&source=bl&ots=Bs1ZqgNc-P&sig=hluJRJW9QUiJui2I92VxJfODnME&hl=en&ei=rzBXTfXeDMy6hAe20uCaDQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CCYQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=what%20is%20dysthymia%20russell%20barkley&f=falseEDIT, Also, I could be long term dysthmic with autism spectrum and not adhd as we know it, but the negative moods/issues are still present in dysthymia, or is it all cross linked? I give up guessing..

Mavster my daughter was diagnosed with Autistic spectrum disorder and ADHD the paediatrician said they commonly run together! She got this Dx after having meningitis! As a child I had the mumps and they said lack of oxygen to the brain caused my learning difficulties! I was in mainstream education and was miles behind my peers hence my daughter is in a special school! A cardiff university mood study linked the same genetics involved with ADHD and ASD.

I haven't really got a clue , he shows some signs of adhd , but he isn't hyperactive all that much . Yet when he is doing something like playing the computer he runs backwards and forwards . He's nothing like I was as a child. Thankfully he has a one to one helper at school who is excellent with him. I wonder if my febrile convulsions as a small child had anything to do with mine

I had febrile convulsions as a child developed into epilepsy in my teens my son had febrile's and my daughter has status epilepticus and it seems she has developed epilepsy I have 3 of my 4 children with me for the holidays ;D and I seem to be getting more done as it's not just for my benefit lol As for having ASD myself I have pondered that I got some rainman shit going on with useless information I seem to store all sorts of rubbish but struggle on naming objects or peoples names lol ;D

Febrile's are to do with the body not being able to regulate temperature due to fever and are common just pot luck I guess if it develops into epilepsy
