Two wheels good, four wheels bad. until you meet with a bit of diesel , oil , manhole cover or pothole . You tend to stay alive after a crash with something in a car as well

Diesel, oil, and manhole covers do make for an interesting ride I'll grant you, though I have to avoid manhole covers compulsively when I get bad anyway. However, it's the only thing fast enough to keep up with my 'style' of motoring and the best thing has got to be never getting stuck in traffic! I also, inexplicably, don't crash bikes, unlike cars.

if i had the money and choice i would have a 4x4 again i had a lwb ford maverick and that was fun driving it across a mountain track at speed having my brother in law bricking it ;D lol in the passed i had a daihasu domino lol 5 door, 5 speed box, 750cc it cost at the time about £15 to fill the tank lol ;D one night about 3 am it snowed heavy and i just had to go for a blow in the snow init ;D i would love a domino again with a charade turbo block in it meet up with boy racer at the lights showing off with his mates years ago i had a lada riva 1.5 rear wheel drive i beat a mate in his escort 1.8i in a point to point race lol and i raced a rover 214 16v as a battle of the vikings and whooped there arse lol ;D

I used to drive a 214 16v! Great motor. It had the Rover engine rather than the Honda engine that the 1.6 used IIRC. Also drove a 220 GSI from time to time, which was great (at least it was back then). Then came the Calibra 4x4 Turbo with hybrid turbo, Superchip, uprated fuel pressure rate, Koni suspension, dump valve, 18" split rims, huge rear wing, etc. Proper boy racer's wet dream. ;D Cars made me *very* poor though and how I didn't end up killing myself in that thing is a mystery. My ZX-6R can do a 10s quarter mile and cost less new than the mods on my Calibra.

we have an old mini on our front garden and an old vw polo on the road out front. neither of them go and both are DD's
wish i had the time or expertise to have a go at doing them up, unfortunately, i dont even remember to put oil in till my light comes on....
the polo needs a manual choke apparantly but they dont do em anymore (or something like that)

Boo you can get manual choke conversion kits or get the choke and carb off a scrapper jetta lol! the 214 16v honda engine was good ;D just the automatic fan radiator switches where shite and would not kick in until the car was basically on fire! ;D bridging the wires off the switch so the fan stayed on constantly would save a lot of money in head Gaskets and skimming the head lol

phil
i so wish i could speak 'car'
what is it you just said again.......
the only bit i think i marginally understood was the manual choke conversion kit...... so they change the car from an automatic choke back to a good old fashioned manual one then? where would i get one/get one fitted?

On the side of the carburettor there will be a plate for the automatic choke they jam and either use too much fuel or not enough and makes the car harder to start! Usually they would make none automatic choke versions if you can't find one in a scrap yard ebay you could try getting the auto choke cleaned! Get another used auto choke a manual conversion if you're car has no blankers for a choke it will involve drilling a big hole in the dash and a little hole in the bulk head I don't know why you would need a manual choke lol but any mechanic could do this! if you can't find a polo with a choke see if there's a jetta or a golf with a manual choke that will match up

cool cheers phil, i think DD was told she needed a manual choke but not sure why.
the car is really difficult to start and just whinnies and stutters
will look into getting the choke cleaned or maybe replaced and see if that does the trick
thanks ;D

if you know where you're air filter goes in the middle of the air filter there will be a metal tube that's where the fuel comes out on the other side there will be a flap a metal plate that moves it should be in the open position try closing it with you're finger and turning the car over she should go lol
