approx 75,000 enzymes 68 or more hormones 22 or more amino acids 100+neurotransmitters 56 major organs www.merckmanuals.com/home/sec01/ch001/ch001d.html1,000,000+ proteins, theorised... with all of those combo's, it's no surprise that things can go wrong. Obviously, there are more "ingredients" but I ran out of enthusiasm points lol.

The most interesting field, at least to me, concerns neuroscience. Scientists are constantly discovering new neurotransmitters and brain goodies which makes the future look bright for ADHD and other mental illness suffers. I am especially interested in Parkinson's disease because there could be a link between ADHD and Parkinson's at a later life. Likewise, gene encoding and genetic testing is quite a phenomenal field that could in 50 years prevent many disorders, including ADHD, and perhaps even cure.
Worth keeping an eye on this if you are an ADHD.

parkinsons treated with l-dopa....... adhd and some other mental ailments treated with dopaminergics...amonst other things. And? First of all, l-dopa initially works to palliate motor symptoms but its positive effects diminish and other medications need to be used to slow down the deterioration. In fact, Parkinson's disease does not have a cure and it certainly is not treated with only l-dopa. Writing such a simple statement as you have done serves no purpose, at all. There is a huge repertoire of medications and at their late stage, Parkinson's sufferers are on a myriad of medications which provoke more side effects than positive effects. The point of my reply is to write about the hopes of current research in providing a cure for PD, amongst other diseases. No one really knows what causes PD but one of the beliefs is that it is due to programmed cell apoptosis/oxidate stress. Imagine if we could spot the people who are genetically predisposed to this, and offer a drug to counteract this PD trigger. Other mental ailments? Dopaminergics? How about you stop using borrowed words from Wikipedia and write something useful? I do not understand your post and since it is alluding to mine, it really does nothing to enhance a chain of positive replies.

Dude... step away from the high horse and get back to having fun with us. It's clear from what and how you write that you're educated and knowledgeable, but flaming other members of the community is a bit mean, init?

If you initiate a thread with a (pseudo) scientific content, you will get replies which go in the same direction. Making bold statements such as "parkinsons treated with l-dopa" is as silly as saying "ADHD is treated with stop being lazy and concentrate". Moreover, the simplicity of his second phrase, no words to describe such a simple bold statement. I am all for a good vibe and realise people gather here to talk about ADHD rather than discuss neuroscience but if you want to talk scientific stuff, you better not be making simplistic bold statements when addressing someone who has written a non-simple comment.

LOL, you have come onto a forum for people with adhd or suspected adhd as well as other "mental ailments" (do I really have to specify?) and are expecting everyone to be as precise as you in every post when most people on here need to use the edit button a few times just to try and get their points across?
You expect people to hold your posts in high regard just because you wrote them?
If that's the case, then you won't be on this forum for long because you'll get pretty bored or aggravated.

If you want to discuss scientific information in detail, you would be better served by going to websites that have qualified experts so as to fit your needs.
parkinsons treated with l-dopa....... (it is but it's only one of the methods and I don't profess to know the others and do I have to or fear your verbal wrath?)
adhd and some other mental ailments treated with dopaminergics...amongst other things.
As far as I know dopaminergics are drugs that affect the dopamine neurons/neurotransmitter excitation. I don't know all of the ways that they are affected, but, do I have to know the ins and outs totally, as a casual website user on an adhd site?

parkinsons treated with l-dopa....... adhd and some other mental ailments treated with dopaminergics...amonst other things. You see I read this and thought, oh yeah the two can be treated similarly so the link between them makes sense. Strange how different people see different things.

Is this my thread? No, it belongs to everyone who cares to poke it with a stick. Terms and conditions of aadduk = anyone posting with regular sanity and conciseness more than 95% of the time will unfortunately have to be removed from this site.

Lol, maybe we all thought of each other at the same time, lol. I've not been too bad considering, bad news yest of another family member passing on, and I had just come back from a week away in Wales....It must have helped and we knew it was coming with him though, but still not v nice. Other than that, nothing new, had a bit of a downer again lately but I've tried to keep myself up. I just want to run away really though but thats not the answer. How are you both doing anyway? Good I hope

I could be doing far worse. I'm usually left wondering how people manage the multitude of harsh medical conditions in this world, when I remember to.
