Hello, there is a new support group in Nottingham, PARENTS OF ADULTS WITH ADHD GROUP, NOTTINGHAM Aims to offer support, understanding and friendship for both adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and their parents. Meetings: last Monday (30 May, 27 June , 8 March and 25 July 2011), 7.00pm-9.00pm, This group started as a group for parents of adults with ADHD and is currently a group for both adults with ADHD and for parents of adults with ADHD. The person who started the group is a parent and I believe her son and some other adults with ADHD also attend this small group. i have spoken to Sue the woman who started the group today and at the moment there are a maximum of 6 people who attend as the group has not been going long. the meeting that was meant to be yesterday is tonight Tuesday 3rd May at Hotel Deux, 2 Pelham road (off sherwood rise) 7pm-9pm they no longer have a permanent meeting place as they now have to find their own room so i will update where the meetings will be when i know. im going to go tonight so ill let you know how it went, sue has also given me permission to include her email address on this thread for anyone who would like further information suesmith.n@talktalk.net

Hello. I am an adult currently trying to obtain diagnosis (have been for 18 months but didn't know what was wrong). Once I am diagnosed, I would like to come to this group My mum has ADHD so I am pretty sure I have it.

Hi all, my name is Roxy and I am 30 yr old student from Nottingham. I am currently studying for a PhD in English poetry at Trent. I am having a nightmare trying to get diagnosed through my GP. My Psychiatrist is prejudiced and wrote a nasty letter to my GP saying I was just trying to get a letter from him to give to my uni so that I could get an extension on my PhD (like I need HIS help for that - I went to him for a diagnosis of ADHD!!). I am now thinking of going private - I can't take the way the NHS make you feel when trying to get a diagnosis for this - I just dont have the emotional willpower. I am thinking Dr Sally Cubbin sounds like a good bet. Anyhow, that is me - can me and (and poss my Mum) come to your next meeting? With best wishes, Roxy.

The next meeting will be on Monday 25 June, 7-9 pm
Bernadette Sarginson, a life coach and de-cluttering expert, will be giving us hints and tips on decluttering and keeping tidy. There will be handouts and a booklet for everyone. It should be a useful and interesting meeting with plenty of time for us to raise specific tidiness problems with Bernadette. We also now have a permanent meeting place
