Does anyone here feel that if their meds stopped without their choosing that they could manage and carry on with their life as usual? Does that make you an addict?
My view is if we didn't "need" the drugs to function a certain way we wouldn't be taking them in the first place.

I don't think I'm an addict becuase I often choose not to take them at weekends, and if I was addicted I wouldn't forget to take the f ing things!

I don't think I have a physical dependency (I take a day off a week), but I wouldn't like to have to return to being permanently unmedicated - I can 'see' the turmoil so much more acutely now and would find it very distressing to be constantly exposed to it without relief.

Yes I agree that it's sensible to have a couple of days break from meds at the weekend and holidays, at a "safe" time when you don't have to work or fit in with the outside world. However I don't think it's fair to say that because someone is anxious at the prospect of not having meds for nearly 3 weeks (when they will have to work, study, take exams and run a home as normal) that they could be dependent on meds!

I can manage fine if everything goes to plan - but how often does that happen?
I like a med holiday from time to time but if things are going to be challenging I go back on them.
I quite like the experience of becoming the old me again - the quips get that bit more barbed and I'm generally more 'dangerous' and sparky.
But brittle as hell.

I get really worried about the long term effects of the meds but I'm locked in my own dilema; they regualate me dramatically, versus reading about the increased risks of heart problems and other serious issues...(Plus the fags need to go)!
I can't imagine not taking them at the moment, but do get paranoid about the health aspects. Which reminds me, regular liver function tests and ecg's everyone??

I've had an ECG which was fine, but I still have high blood pressure and high cholestrol, infact when I started taking meds my blood pressure came down a bit.

I need to book in again soon, try and have a 'once over' every yr. To start with my BP was great but up a bit now..But my weight an ongoing issue.
Read somewhere about a number of people gaining weight on meds, has this been a problem for anyone else here?
