Hi,
I don't often post on here, but I was wondering if anyone else shares an experience that I have - I am trying to figure out if it is maybe ADD-related.
Basically I have a song playing in my head pretty much all the time...not the same song, though I do sometimes have the same song for hours, but different songs. I can obviously still think etc but I am aware of it in the background. In one way I am sure that I am singing it (like you do when you opt to purposively) but I can't really stop it...so when I go to bed, often it just keeps going...and going...and going.
Also, I find that if something happens then a song relevant to the event will start. For example, I was watching a programme on television about someone who had low self-esteem and then the Pink song 'F*cking Perfect' started...which is basically about accepting yourself and not letting people put you down.
I was curious if maybe it is a way of helping me think - like the way that sometimes shaking your foot or playing with a stress ball can help some people think.
Anyway. I probably sound like a complete fruit loop, but if anyone has experienced this or perhaps knows someone who has, I would be interested to hear from you.
Thanks.

this is apparently common with AS. on that quiz in general discussion anyway one of the questions was something like "do songs get stuck in your head?"

songs do get stuck in my head. sometimes if i hear a song, even if its one i hate, it'll just spin round and round for hours, till something takes its place. or if i think about something which had a particular song 'attached' to it, that will pop in my head, and round that'll go. and if its not that, it'll be some conversation that'll be replaying over and over oh for some peace and quiet ;D

Yes, I get songs stuck in my head too. And boo - I get the conversation thing too - it drives me mad. The songs aren't so bad but I replay conversations all the time, what I said, what I *should* have said, what I *could* have said, what I am going to say...

There are loads of previous posts on this - I started one last year called 'my personal jukebox' and it seemed to strike a chord (sorry!)
I hear music in my head, hum/sing constantly without realising, and my ADHD child does it too.....only LOUDER!

Thanks all..I at least don't feel on my own now, and thanks for link to 'Earworm', I found an article on the BBC website this morning and was going to post but that one pretty much sums it up. If anyone has an idea of how to change the song to a set of definitions etc, it would REALLY help with my exam revision...maybe if I set my notes to the songs my head sings, though like Snickerz and others, I can't control it and I imagine it would choose the original rather than my version. Ha.

seahorse, the conversation thing drives me mad more than the music too, i totally get what you mean and do exactly the same. with the music, sometimes it can be a set of words which remind me of a song, like this morning, i was pulling out of a junction and a car came over the hill as i was pulling out and my lad mentioned the car and i said to him, yeah but i was already pulling out when it came over the hill......and suddenly in my head i launched into whats that coming over the hill, is it a.........ca-ar...... ;D o my poor brain, no wonder its jammin'......

Yeah thanks for that Boo!!! ;D Definately - same as. You're far from alone. Thanks to someone on here (Phil I think? mentioning it in a thread, I had that song from the advert (god only knows what it's an advert for) that goes "Were busy doing nothing, working the whole day through, trying to find lots of things not to do..." in my head for about 10 days on the trot - think that's been my longest earworm yet! (Now I'm going to have two worms fighting it out for dominance in me noggin - Boo's & Phil's! ;D)

Heh heh...it's like a form of friendly torture...like tickling! We could all drive each other insane, by tagging the line of a song or advert to the end of every post! "You do the Shake & Vac, and put the freshness back....."

Listened to ghost town by the specials on the way home.
Now I've got the same bit going over and over in my head.
"Bands won't play no more, too much fighting on the dance floor. ahhhhh ah ah ahhhhh ahhhhh ahh ahh ah ahh ah ahhh ah ahhh ah ah ah ahhhhhh ah ahhhhh ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ahhhhhh....etc"

Cookiemonster - obviously my veggie soul refused to acknowledge Maccie Ds cow slaughtering connection with this wholesome little ditty! I imagined it to be for a breakfast cereal or something! Seahorse....thank you! I'd completely forgotten that song existed - that's a wedgie I'm happy to have yanked up me ear cleavage! ;D I had another one performed on me yestarday by youtube. I'd already stumbled accross Dr C and Elwood's ADHD song ages ago (for anyone who'se not seen it - prepare yourself to be afraid......) .....plain sinister if you ask me!! Anyway, I thought I'd just see what other scary offerings they might have come up with, and found this.... Serious ear wedgie material! I got youuuuu babe.......
