Yeah, I read that too. If he is guilty (and I stress: whether he's accused of hacking, theft, rape, child abuse or witchcraft, he is innocent unless and until proven guilty), it would strongly hint at a profoundly sociopathic and disturbed individual. I know - don't we all? - that ADHD can make you feel isolated and misunderstood, and this in turn can make you Angry At The World sometimes. There are also some personality and other mental disorders that impair one's ability to deal rationally with this anger, or take responsibility for it. I.e., they create psychotic loners. But I'm slightly sceptical about whether ADHD or, indeed, autistic spectrum disorders are among them. I can't shake the feeling that this news reporting is clutching at straws, in an attempt to paint a picture of a stereotypical weirdo. Based on the drawing of him on the BBC news webpage, they may as well have said "Mr Cleary has been diagnosed with Aspergersism, is agoraphobic and is trying to grow a beard. Oh, and we bet he masticates his food as well. I mean, just look at those eyebrows - he's obviously evil". I suppose he might be, but - and I'm sorry to repeat myself - he's innocent until proven guilty. P.S. I realise you can't actually be accused of witchcraft under British law - I was speaking metaphorically, as in "witch-hunt". Oddly enough, the Witchcraft Act of 1735 not only removed the criminal offence of witchcraft, but effectively constituted an official ruling that witchcraft did NOT exist. That is, it made it illegal to claim to be a witch, basically equating it with fraud. P.P.S. I've gone off on one again, haven't I?
