I used to be a waste of oxygen. I could nearly hold a job and I couldn't control my attention, emotions and finances.
Today I can read people's minds. I open my mouth and sweet perfumed poetry comes out. I can climb walls and see in the dark. I am never late, although I did have to stop a train with my bare hands today. All my peers have unanimously declared my s**t no longer stinks.
Thank you ritalin ;D

I'll see your tongue brush and raise you a germy soap dispenser steveshark.wordpress.com/2010/06/06/lick-my-soap-pump/My dog regularly eats soil (full of deadly botulism), dead animals so dead they're alive again, drinks stagnant canal water and licks his own arse. Maybe that's why they only live to 15ish. Have we gone completely off topic yet?

Congrats trigger...I've was diagnosed on Monday and been on the ritalin for 4 days. How long did it take to get your dose right? Typically, I've forgotten how quickly I'm allowed to increase it. can you give some examples of how it feels...so far the tiredness I've always complained of has lifted...in fact now I wouldn't even call it tiredness but mental fogginess. That alone is ace...but I think there's more to be got out of it yet. Oh and yeah, Pippa ain't all that..bit of a pug-face, and my ass is nicer if I do say so myself

Poor Pippa! Her arse gets a lot more column inches than mine, so it must have something going for it.
And as for stuff....electric corkscrew, anyone? For the person who has £30 to burn and doesn't want to spend it on booze with a screwtop....

Oooo, and now I remember what I intended to say, before being distracted by The Bum - you can go up the doses as quick as you feel right; docs generally recommend weekly intervals but many of us have ignored that and gone up quicker. However, you should only do it once you're satisfied that the level you're on isn't working, and be wary of side effects. It's wise to give your body a bit of time to adjust before making an increase, and go up in small increments, to be sure that it's sustainable. You eventually reach a point where the side effects outweigh the benefits.

congratulations mindthegap! u can hang out with the cool kids now my psych is afraid ill abuse them. i did take them for a "little spin" at first and we got better acquainted, the recreational potencial is (thankfully) very limited. He told me to do 10mg for 6 days then break for one. then increased to 20 and ran out soon after. I went back for an early review and now im on concerta 18!! which is back to 10mg but on long acting more or less. he only gave me 14 tabs and told me to come back in 2 weeks for more. I am hoping for concerta 54 but 36 + 10mg ritalins would give me more control over the dose. every time i increase the dose i felt a bit anxious. its funny its like a muted sense of urgency, its midly annoying. I might find myself tapping my feet a lot harder and more often. I felt like I was about to do or say something rly stupid at any minute...but i didnt! looking back i can see everything works out a lot better and smoother while on them. the nasty sideeffects subside... i'll let u know when im on the full dose for a week or so. but it freaked me out when i just stopped doing it for 2 days (cuz i ran out). the comedown is nasty! Its like all the symptoms made worse. I guess the exercise with doses so far has made the extent of my problems really clear to me and i've learned a lot about the whole thing and ill respect the doses more.

Hi shiny. I thought the doc said a week, but the initial dose was 5mg, which she said I probably wouldn't get anything from, and to go straight up to 10mg after the very first 5mg if I didn't. I think I was so hyped at the diagnosis that I floated through the first day on meds. I'm finding it hard to know how to describe the effects and whether I can really expect more.
trigger, thanks for letting me hang, although I'm not sure I'm cool enough. I didn't want to swallow the lot straight off...little scaredy-cat of what would happen. However I haven't had a big kick in of effect so far...and I went up to 15mg for the second two doses of today. The morning dose hasn't seemed to do as much as the later ones so far. The midday one does seem to have an effect...I'm studying at the moment and I've found I'm more on task, though only for quite a limited time, and it's not a dramatic feeling of wow i'm concentrating like never before, more like I realise after that I felt calm and able to continue at points where I might usually switch off or get distracted.
I'm having trouble spacing the doses too. I work before and after my full-time course, so a morning dose either sees me through work and wears off during class or I take it later and just do my normal flitting about at work.
This evening I had 2 pieces of work to complete and get emailed off tomorrow morning. I took a late dose of 15mg at 6pm but I've got nothing done and have found myself piddling around on the internet for hours on end like usual. What to do?

i think the slow release ones have a more even effect. I rather have them cuz its easier to fit with my work and helps me built a steady rhythm and routine. give it some time, im sure you won't find yourself that close to deadlines next time! you are cool enough u have a nice bum. prescription medication abuse is NOT cool
