Well,
Finally realised the other day i have/had a problem.
Every night i would come home, kids to bed, pc on and sit - play until 12/1am then TRY and sleep.
All day work thinking about playing, then over the weekend i realised how close i was to losing my mrs over this soooooooo on sunday night i closed my subscription, changed my password to an obscure one and uninstalled the game.
This may seem very trivial to the non gamers but its a big thing - very pleased with myself right now.
Anyway, what is it non WOWers do again?

Well done BW if only I could convince my brother to do the same he plays exion or some crap like that he lives in virtual reality! Saying that I'm starting living in virtual reality or becoming a recluse! But I am in the black with the bank! And I'm keeping out of trouble! ;D

well done mate. i play a lot of games i can see how they can become a problem. they always had the potential to become addictive but w online games u add a social and competitive side to it that make them drag more people in.
I used to play eve online. at one point i realised that i'd only get enough out of it if i gave up on my social life completely.

I play a lot of online games and the main reason being that as the parent of an adhd child, I do NOT have any kind of social life at all .. I haven't been "out" socially for I think about 4 years now??? So these games do keep my brain active and don't cost anything ... Rx

I used to play wow a lot and it is very addictive but I will tell you all that it does have its day in the end. It does become very repetitive and boring! I still pay to play sometimes but don't feel like I get my monies worth though!
I play a lot of Call of Duty on line which is better as it is much easier to switch off for the addictive personality!

Hay Badwool - just wanted to let you know ur not alone....
My 19yr old is going through the same thing... he has spent since he was 16 on WOW, he has no real life social circle, and wont even stop long enough to get a bath... anyway, I gave him the ultimatum last weekend:
"your choice Son is, you can continue to play WOW in a place of your own, with ur own internet connection OR you can live in this house and box up ur computer"
I was calm and friendly when i said it - explaining that there is a life beyond online games as well as real life friends... he did think about it for a couple of hours but has now put the computer in a box (think he knows he could never afford his own place)- trouble is, since then he has driven us all up the wall!! He just doesn't know what to do with himself! he still wont go out as he doesn't already have friends, so he sits in the same room as me and Hubby, annoying the other 2 kids to the point of arguments!
Still, the good news in, he is off today down to our home town in Kent to see his old friends etc so hopefully he will get some sort of a life!
I wouldn't mind, but there are constantly a string of girls that call him and FB him asking him to meet but he wont do it - think the one thing online games do is destroy confidence in the real world

Anyway, what is it non WOWers do again? Post obsessively on online forums?? Something tells me we might be seeing a lot more of you round here now ;D Well done for jacking it in badwool - I can see how something like that could easily take over your every waking moment! I used to have a boyfriend who played Warhammer 40K and I even got into it for a bit - it's a great form of escapism! But maybe not so great for the people who love you and aren't a part of it. I'm sure they'll really appreciate what you've done! Hey Mizmog - hope your boy's meet-up with his friends went well. I worry so much that my son will end up permanently plugged into a computer game as soon as he's of an age where I can't stop him. He's absolutely obsessed and completely melts down whenever I ask him to come off the wii/DS - so now he's rarely allowed to play, but it's relatively easy to control while he's only 9. I dread to think how it'll be when he's older.

The good news is he went off on his travels, the bad news however was that after 8 hours I still hadn't heard if he had got there ok (found his phone left on his bed) ended up ringing round his mates only to be told 'sorry forgot' lol
