sorry had to cancel that appointment because my doctors receptionist has a real problem i needed 2 pieces of information from my medical files i was not at first i was told they don't give out information and i would need a solicitor to get them. phones my solicitor i have a right to access to my medical files. goes back to the surgury asking for the copies that was about to do it then has a little chat in the back room then she was asking me what the copies where for i told her that was my business ;D she said you can't have physical copies but she can fax them to a specialist or what ever. this is not what it say's on there web site. so i've wrote a letter to the manager requesting the information. i'm no good with choices my G.P has arranged a new appointment with a Dr Abbott who i have never hear'd of with respect to the ADHD. come monday i will leave the choice at my G.P's receptionists foot either she gives me the copies of my records that i am leagally entitled to or the PSO get's involved. i will show them my letter to the PSO and they can come watch me post the thing! i was supposed to see Jawad originally! and my appointment was for tomorrow morning to see him for real this time i have two appointment letters none of which state what this appointment is about? is it some assestment? is it so he can feed me balls why he backed up a senior grade training doctor? (not registered with the BMA) and as she was no specialist so breaking the NICE guidelines! and i saw her unsupervised. if they want to rock my boat i will sink there ship! i wanted treatment 6 years ago not fucking politics of a shit run NHS service!

I believe as patients we've had a right to view and make copies of our own records for a few years now (I enquired about it for life insurance forms), but I think the surgery will often charge you for the priveledge.
p.s. the dog lives to bark another day - hooray! ;D

yeah she said i would be charged for the copies then i go to get them and she asked me who i wanted them to be faxed to? then she said i can't give you the copies i don't know nothing about leagal stuff then totally blanked me i felt like shouting at her believe and letting rip there was an incident where i had an operation to revove a mole in my arm pit with no pain relief and pre operation i did say that local anithetic does not work on me so my GP just used local that did'nt work and jabbed me so many times with local i had a bruise in the shape of a circle yet still no pain relief. i want them documents for my own insurance! i don't trust any of them and rightly so so come monday the choice is up to them no more chances the dicision is up to the trappy bitch doctors receptionist ;D

Access to medical records ] The practice is registered and complies with the Data Protection Act 1998. Any request for access to notes by a patient, patient’s representative or outside body will be dealt with in accordance with the Act. Your are entitled to copies of your records, there is a charge for this and your request is required in writing to the Practice Manager. i have done this so come monday i want the goods

any one know what an ST6 means with respect to specialist registrar? From what I can see, it is a 'specialty doctor'. They are middle-ranking docs who are training towards a consultant role in a specialist branch of medicine. They rank from 1-6 so you might guess that a 6 isn't far off achieving consultant status. BMA: Description: The specialty doctor is a new grade established in 2008. It replaces the staff and associate specialist grades (SAS) with a single grade. It also subsumes other grades such as trust grade, clinical medical officer, hospital practitioner and clinical assistant. Specialty doctors will therefore have a wide range of training and experience. New entrants will have a minimum of four years postgraduate training and will deliver routine and emergency clinical care under the supervision of a consultant, but with time they will take on more responsibility, with doctors at the top end of the grade resembling the old associate specialist grade, working independently with only indirect supervision. Doctors in this grade will be able, if they wish, to gain specialist registration and become consultants through keeping a portfolio of experience and competence. At all levels the specialty doctor will be part of a team led by a consultant and will take part in all of the activities of their specialty including teaching students and junior doctors.

Dunno. Technically, her specialism would need to be something like adult neuropsychiatry or something. Which it is from the first day you start training in your specialism. But who knows the detail of the levels of training etc that are needed before you'd be allowed to needed to dx ADHD unsupervised?
