I don't know much about these but when I take them they don't seem to do anything or help me, my GF said she can tell I've taken it but it don't seem to help half as much as the other ones I was taking before. Anyone else have the same problem with this one?

What were you taking before? And why did you change to Concerta XL if they were working? I sometimes don't think Concerta works too well, but you'll notice small things changing. The fact that your girlfriend says she can notice is a good thing, though, and shows that they must be doing something! I expected miracles but I realised that a lot of the things were just down to my personality and you'll have to try to change your ways of thinking for them to have the best effect possible.

I didn't notice a single difference when I started taking medication other than the fact that I could sit still longer without being bored. I was unsure if it was working or if it was placebo, but I think everyone else knew it was working before I did.
Going into work unmedicated for an hour - then taking the medication, the difference is very noticeable. What would bore me to the point of insanity before suddenly becomes not so bad.

Well before I was on methylphenidate twice daily and I could tell the difference, my gf said it made abig difference too. The only thing was that they wear off and I used to get a bit stressed out when it happened. So they changed it to Concerta XL 18mg one every day and my gf said she can tell I've had it but it's not where near helping me like the other tablets did.

ryan
i agree, i started on 18, went up to 27, then 36 and finally settled on 54, which is what i have been on ever since.
I cant remember how long you have been on concerta xl, but its fairly recently i think, isnt it?
might be worth having a chat with your pdoc.

One 18mg a day is a pretty low 'starter' dose, roughly like taking 3x5mg fairly close together. I wouldn't be surprised if they put you up. See what they offer - as kameel says, a bump straight to 36mg can be quite a shock to the system for some, but again, it's roughly like the 3x10mg that folk go to on IR. When I tried concerta, I got zip from 18mg, but 36mg was better. I just preferred the way you can fine-tune your dosage with IR.

hey ryan, I have the same med story, ritalin worked but was a bitch to balance out. now I'm on 18mg concerta as well and I love it. yes, it's not as obvious as the ritalin but it does work. I can get stuff done, I don't get a massive crash when it wears off and the biggest pro: I only have to think about my adhd once a day. and to be honest, I don't do much thinking in the morning when I pop my concerta and my cipralex while still in bed *morningzombie* and if I need a longer coverage I supplement 5mg ritalin in the late afternoon. easy as pie. I had a day off the concerta (bc of food poisoning) and holy shit... I was so loopy. try to take a day off and you'll see the difference. I suggest a weekend though edit: and it is after all MPH as well, just like the ritalin. so the chemical itself seems to work on you, right?
