Might ADDers sometimes smoke to cope with the symptoms especially if undiagnosed?

I have smoked all my life (20+/day) and I've tried everything to stop. The problem is I'm now also hooked on nicotine gum, so when I'm not having a cigarette I'm chewing the gum (I once did both at once without realising). I read somewhere something about ADD and 'nicotinism'.

Yeah definitely, as much as I hate smoking there's usually some cigarettes at hand to calm me if needed and not do something stupid!

I'm sure smoking forms a kind of 'self-medding' it seems to affect though processes. I gave up this year and have found life without a smoke at certain points of the day was very difficult.
