I have only just found this site and this is my first message. I have a son who is 22 and has ADHD, he also has learning difficulties and has struggled all of his life, He was a very premature baby and an only survivor of triplets, he was diagnosed with adhd at 13, the whole family is affected by his behavior even to the the point where I rang social services for help before he was diagnosed, they sent a lady, she treated us like we were abusing him, went away and I never heard another thing,
He is trying very hard to get a job but is struggling, He is starting to get very aggitated with us all and flies off the handle, we went to brisslington to the adult adhd clinic and by the time we got there on the bus he was ready to throttle someone, they told us to continue with the concerta meds but he doesent like taking them because he thinks they are making him lose weight, in the meantime after 22 years of this and now he just "zones" out and clenches his fists, he is frightening me, it seems everything is against him, he desperatley wants to be "normal"and lead a normal life, me and him both agree if he got his own place to live it would relieve so much pressure from us both and I would still help and support him as his behaviour at home now is just unbearable and is causing much heartache, I love him so much and want to help him but god forgive me I need him to go, HOW CAN I GET HIM REHOUSED!! I dont know if we are entitled to any help or even where to get it, if you met him, you would say hes a realy nice bloke and he is but this bloody condition has consumed his life and mine, is there anyone else in my situation!!!
