After a lifetime knowing 'something' was wrong with me, and 2 years after being told it was likely to be ADD, plus an appointment canceled by the 'Chuckle Brothers' style Welsh NHS, I am finally getting my diagnosis this Tuesday.
It really is make-or-break for me. Other than my daughter's birthday it is easily the most important day of my life. My only fear is they will say it's not ADD despite my showing many of the classic traits. I'm a natural pessimist really so that's understandable. These will be the longest 4 days of my life!

Hi Nightblade, good luck for Tuesday. I've got over a month to wait for my secondary level referral, let alone seeing someone who can diagnose. I hope it all goes well for you.

Oo, I remember worrying that they'd tell me I was wrong about my self-diagnosis, too.
The point is, you have symptoms that are persistent and are bothering you. They need to find out what's causing them and help you. It's not that you are going in with nothing. If it's ADHD, fine - they'll work it out, if they are proper ADHD specialists, and treat it. If it's something else, fine too - they'll treat that. Either way, you get certainty and help.

"Chuckle Brothers" Brilliant - my road to diagnosis was the most amazing series of cock-ups, paper shuffling and downright ineptitude. It went on for years. Except it wasn't funny. Exactly like the Chuckle Brothers.

28 hours to go...starting to brick it now!!
Seriously though, there can't be many (any?) other conditions that are so similar to ADHD that they might say I have?

I've done the Wender Utah thing and score 61 so i'm sure I'm adhd. This forum confirms it every day anyway. I'm probably over confident if they say no I'll tell them to think again.

That's what they said to me, and that's what I said to them...i got a 2nd opinion, and it all came good in the end...

Talk about a kick in the nuts if it's not :/ I think it is like oooshiny! says, you have things that have obviously been bothering you/stopping you and you just want to know what it is wrong. It is understandable that you be nervous, we all have been at one point. And yes we have probably all thought "this shit just got real" i know i have

Talk about a kick in the nuts if it's not :/ As long as you get the right diagnosis it doesn't matter - if it isn't ADHD then you need to know so you can move on. It's just a process and as long as they do it right you've won. But it is amazingly worrying even though it shouldn't be. Go along - babbling at them is fine coz that's a symptom, so just be yourself. Yourself, after all, is what they're looking for.

Well that was a pile of horseshit.
Went over a LOT of questions only to be told I now have to see my doctor about having cardio and blood pressure tests done, then return to see the ADHD guy in about 6 weeks after that to "see what our options are".
I asked him if I had ADD and all he said was "It looks like you have some of the symptoms but we needs to look at things in 6 weeks". Why look at it in 6 weeks? Why not now?
I guess the fact he's sending me for tests indicates he's considering meds (which is what I really want) but I came away not really feeling positive or negative about it.
