Hey all. So before I got diagnosed and before the meds I used to enjoy going on dates. I also had a pretty healthy interest in sex. I've been on concerta now for 3 months, since then I haven't had any desire to go on a single date. I am no longer interested in sex. Not to be too 'blue' but the urge is there still. It just seems easier to um sort myself out.
Has anybody else experienced this?

It's a post about dating magpie.
I've been in a relationship for erm... 16 years. I don't read posts if the title doesn't apply to me. Dunno why no-one else answered. Or why you expect me to reply to all your posts?

Again with the 'why will nobody talk to me?' whinging! Yawn!!
We all take a punt when we launch a new thread. I rarely do it because I don't have any lines of conversation that I think would be novel and interesting enough to provoke a response. I guess your conversational first service needs work...
There are several threads around about sex, sex and ADHD, sex and meds, and also sex. It seems clear, from what I've seen posted, that many ADHDers like sex. A lot. I think I may have said as much myself, at some time (also may have posted that I once asked my partner to hurry it up coz I was getting bored...ADHDers do have a low boredom threshold, you know. Yawn...).
As to why you can't be arsed to date? Wanking is jolly, so that's understandable. But not everything is ADHD. I mean, if you're not running into folk you'd like to date (and who would like to be dated by you...), how are you going to go dating?
And if you are running into people you know that you'd have liked to date when unmedicated, what - is it really laziness? Impulse-management? Being more discriminating? Less thrill? Something emotional? Need a bit more from you if you want to grab my attention and draw me in...

I don't date or to be more accurate, I've had 2 dates in the last 5 years and one odd 'we're not a couple' thing with an old friend.
I think there a many reasons;
1. Shy, always been a problem. 2. I don't go out. Obviously an issue. 3. The only women I know are friends girlfriends and wives. 4. No money. Women are expensive. 5. No job. Women are expensive. 6. I'm 6 stone overweight and lack any confidence. 7. I am attracted to intelligent women (with who I'm less likely to get bored). I will actually find a woman more attractive if she has a postgrad qualification! 8. I'm bad at dates where I drink too much (I don't fancy her) or talk too much (if I like her).
I have considered giving up on relationships completely and focusing on bringing up my son and try not to become the loony wandering around my local park in deep conversation with benches, trees or pigeons!

magpie - knock yourself out
jonboy - you must be the 'oracle' around here, or the wizard behind the curtain?? I'm sure it's a complement to your knowledge and experience, even if us newbies can be demanding pains in the a**es sometimes.
ooshiny! - I agree, more specifics from OP would have been helpful
bobjones - I don't do relationships either, it must be easier for us women though as we can just become crazy cat ladies....I'm well on the way to that (whilst also doing another postgrad lol ;-)

When you say you're 'doing' another postgrad, do you mean a course, or...? ;D

Don't get me started on cats!!!! Even if I meet a nice woman, she'll have a bloody cat. I'm allergic to bloody cats.
Uncontrollable sneezing and suggestions for good cat recipes tends to kill the mood!
