Hi all,
Quick Update!
We had our paediatrician appt today to assess our daughter.
The result of the assessment is that she has ADHD and her scores on the conners rating scale were in Dr's words "Off the scale" She could see from just meeting her where we were coming from!
She has ruled out any form of autism, including AS but wants her to be assessed for Dyspraxia and is scheduling an OT appt for this.
We are going to be sent on a course and the case will be left open for us to discuss Meds as and when we feel comfortable.
She said that they are reluctant to give them until she is 7yrs due to them having an effect on growth and development at this young age.
I think that is about it!
...Oh any advice on how to liase with the school and senco, other services etc on this would be greatly appreciated.
Lottie x

I think simply asking the school for advice as a concerned parent would be a good start. It's in their (and your DD1's) best interest for you to work together. They'll have probably gone through this a number of times before, use them. I don't know what to suggest about meds, it feels like a hideously difficult decision. Try and get as much advice as you can!!! My situation is very different, I was only diagnosed 2 months ago and have a 6 year old who's every action is assesses within the context of adhd (just in my head, he's oblivious). It's just me being paranoid and I'm sure I'll chill out about it when my meds are sorted! I'm planning to arrange a meeting with school just to make them aware of my diagnosis and just have a general chat on how he's doing. Making them aware is as much as I can do at the moment and may help them any identify symptoms early. All this without making them paranoid and needlessly labelling my son. Good luck!

Bobjones don't be to quick to call your Gut instinct 'just you' I felt the same about my children luckily 2 were diagnosed around 11yrs (still late really ) but my gut was right & another just diagnosed with ADHD/ Aspergers Traits aged 22yrs!! So my advise is Follow your hunch matey!!! If you can see it in your son your probably right xxx
