Hi,
Need some info please, I have a trapped nerve in my neck which is really painful, but doesn't give me problems every day, but when it does, it is eye wateringly bad. Paracetamol and ibuprofen don't touch it, the doc gave me naproxen and they don't touch it either.
Has anyone tried Tramadol or co codamol whilst taking Ritalin/Concerta? I had a google and it seems to be a no no, but all the posts were about people taking them recreationally, whereas I really need some pain releif and fast!
I have tramadol and cocodamol from past injuries, so will use them if it's safe...any thoughts anyone please?
Thanks.

To be honest mate, I wouldn't risk mixing the two if professional advice wasn't sought. My sympathies for your pain though.

I have been prescribed tramadol (either 50mg or 100mg per dose) and Codeine (60mg per dose) for sciatica while also being prescribed Dexamfetamine.
I get on ok with the codeine, but the tramadol only lasted one dose before I stopped taking it due to interactions with the Dexamfetamine.
The codeine didn't go too well with Ritalin when I was taking it though. I was ok if I took a smaller dose of codeine (30mg). But if I took 60mg, I felt spaced out, and started to get quite anxious because of it.
You might find that the anti inflamatory you were prescribed (Naproxen) works well in conjuction with a painkiller. I get prescribed Naproxen in conjunction with the Codeine, and have had no ill effects off that (though don't take Naproxen on an empty stomach - it increases your chance of bleeds).

Thanks Jonboy, I can't take the naproxen, even with food, they do my stomach right in unfortunately, ibuprofen is as hardcore as I can get with anti inflammatories. Codeine has the same effect on me too, but I'd rather suffer that than this dodgy neck...it's like toothache in the bones :/

When you get a chance to see someone, ask about Meloxicam. I got a lot of mouth users with diclofenac which I think is a step down from what you're on, and Meloxicam is about the same level, maybe a little higher than naprox, but I found that worked incredibly well for me when I had knee, hip, sacro-iliac and lower back pain stemming from biomechanical issues. This was a couple of years ago though and I've only just recently started being treated with Dex.

Took cocodamol last night, doesn't agree with me, bit barfy and quite panicky and that was just the over the counter ones. Doc has prescribed tramadol 50mg 4x daily as needed. I asked about the possible interaction with ritalin/concerta and she said there wasn't anything immediately obvious as I don't suffer with epilepsy. Also asked about codeine, that's also fine if you can stomach it!

Thanks lisablue!
Took 1x 50mg tramadol in the night with no ill effects, just woke up a bit fuzzy, but ok and it dulled the pain well. Just checked the label and she's prescribed 1-2 tablets four times a day. I'd be zonked!

Really, really don't like tramadol. It plays havoc with my mood cycles, without fail.
I take dihydrocodeine everyday for arthritis (old injuries.i am very accident prone...now there's a surprise!).It also helps with the RLS i get from my other meds.
but horses for courses,etc.
