Hello there
I'm 41 and was diagnosed a year and a half ago. I've wanted to become a mother for a long time now, but for various reasons it hasn't happened thus far. But I'm now in a fantastic relationship with a great man who wants to have a child with me, and that's just brilliant. However, I'm really worried about the effect of my meds on my - statistically, at least - fast diminishing fertility.
We've been actively trying to get pregnant and I stopped taking my meds a couple of months ago, both because of that worry about fertility, and also because I'm not sure what effect they'd have on the embryo/foetus if I do conceive.
Trouble is, I really need my meds. I'm now struggling at work, rather a lot. They like me there and know about the ADHD, which is great, but I can't tell them that I'm not on the meds at the moment because the organisation is in difficulty and if I tell them I'm trying to get pregnant I fear they may think about it in terms of the organisation's resources. (I know it wouldn't be legal to discriminate, but people can find ways to let someone go if they really want to.)
Does anyone know of anywhere I can find out more about how the meds might affect my fertility at my age? Or have any personal experiences (even though anecdotes aren't data ). My GP is useless on this and I'm not currently attached to any specialist service, having moved fairly recently and the new borough dragging it's heels due to funding issues. Google and PubMed haven't helped me much thus far.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated
