Hi everyone , I have just been diagnosed and started taking Concerta 18 mg, so am going to keep a record of my experience on this medication for the next month:
Also I am experimenting with an iphone app that measures sustained attention (Focus Monitor). Before meds the best score I could get was 17 %. It'll be interesting to see if there's an improvement on meds.
Day 1 : Took Concerta at 4pm....felt a bit clearer in my mind but drowsy after a few hours. Was anxious that I wouldn't sleep, but dozed off easily and slept well. Focus Monitor score 20% Hyper focussed majorly listening to music (the prodigy and muse) before bed.
Day 2: Took Concerta 9am. Went to London with friends and nearly dozed off on the bus! Quite drowsy all day. This was combined with a slightly agitated feeling briefly. Felt content when listening to music but a bit out of sorts the rest of the time. Slept very well and for a long time.
Day 3: Took Concerta at 10am. Felt drowsy most of the day, and normal towards the end of the day. Otherwise normal. Focus Monitor score: 0% (??)

Day 4: drowsy (maybe a bit less so) and obsessively focussing on computer ALL DAY. Forgot Focus Monitor
Day 5: Less drowsy and still obsessively focussing on computer. Focus Monitor score: 4%
.....boring myself now - maybe this will be the last entry

No. Keep doing it. Even though you won't get many comments, lots of people will be interested in how you get on. x

Some people find mph very sedative. If you don't turn a corner as you titrate up, you may need to look at trying one of the alternative meds.

Lower doses of concerta made me feel very tired/wiped out.Things should improve once the optimum dose is reached (which may take a while,so be patient)

Hi,thanks for the advice, dose has now been upped to 36 mg, still a bit sleepy, but starting to notice a bit more activity/motivation in the first couple of hours after taking it - this is short lived though, and drowsiness often follows

Sounds like you may need to be on a higher dose. I'm on 54mg. I take in the morning. I also have an additional 10mg fast release Ritalin to help me focus in the mornings and get me to work on time.
