Thanks for posting and glad you finally got your dx.
I replied to bibbles about the support group her in the N/E.
Before Xmas, we had a couple of students along - 1 from Northumbria and 1 from Newcastle. They did say they had been told, presumably by student support, that there were about 15 students (from both Uni's) who had a dx of ADHD. I understand they may have set up their own ADHD support group, so you might want to ask around.
At our last meeting, another engineering student came along (is there something about engineers?) He's just come across Adult ADHD and is possibly going to go for a dx.
At our meeting in Feb. the manager of the service came along, alongwith the nurse from the clinic, to update us as to where the service was at. Unfortunately, it's still a "pilot" clinic and after 3 years we would have hoped it would have become an established service within this very big Mental Health Trust. He was pulling together a business case for the Commissioner's, so hopefully it will become a "mainstream" service in the near future.
If you do manage to find the student support group perhaps you could ask them to stay in touch. If we join together I'm sure we can better advocate for improved service provision.
Good luck with the meds.

I've been meaning to come along to the last couple of meetings but other things have clashed and I've not been able to, hopefully I can make the next one. I'm not aware of any student support group for ADHD and cannot seem to find anything about one on the ncl uni student wellbeing website, so I would assume that there isn't one but I will let you know if I hear of one.

Glad you posted Jess because I made a mistake!!
The group is still meeting but it's on the 3rd Monday of the month - not the Wed as I said - so the next meet up is on the 20th May 7-9pm.
We've been meeting in the main building of St Nicholas Hospital but I know we have to change venue and I'm not sure if that's going to be in May or June - I'll get back to you by the end of the week.
The group's open to adults who have a dx, those who are considering going down the assessment route and for family members who either live or are close to a relative/partner who has the condition. Not sure which category you would place yourself but do feel free to come along.

Just to confirm - the next meeting of the Adult Support Group is on Monday 20th May 6.30-9pm, Collingwood Court, St Nicholas Hospital Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne.
If you go up the main drive of the hospital, take the 1st road on your left and go along to the end of this road and Collingwood Court is the last low building on your left.
