It seems as though I get the 3rd degree every time i go to collect my prescription (concerta + short acting methyphenidate) – i have been point blank refused once (because they didn't recognise my doc's signature) and pretty much every other time they'll ask me about a million questions and ask to check ID. I think part of the problem is that it's on a pink private prescription so they're not used to seeing it, but a huge queue usually builds up behind me, with old ladies shaking their heads as if i'm a junkie and it's pretty embarrassing. Last time the chemist didn't have my whole prescription and when I went to pick up the rest the following day, I had all the questions again, and the tablets had been put in a thing that looked like an evidence bag with a massive orange sticker that said 'CONTROLLED DRUGS'. that was a bit of a rant, but has anyone else experienced this? xx

I'd be tempted to flash the discrimination card. They obviously have to check that controlled drugs are not going to someone who shouldn't have them, but to practically humiliate someone who has a disorder every time they walk in to get their prescription is unacceptable. Write them a letter and include the words 'disability discrimination'.

I probably should have said that it's always in different chemists as I'm always moving about, so perhaps that's part of the problem, if it was the same place then I would definitely say something! But I still find it strange that it always seems to happen – I actually get nervous whenever I collect it now, the feeling reminds me of trying to buy cigarettes when I was underage! :/

Yup, every time. Warned them in advance last time and the same thing happened. I'm finally in a position where they know the score now though, although I suppose my 'face from crimewatch' doesn't help

Next time I move I will be whacking a suit and tie on and strolling in with my auto open umbrella and a copy of the FT under the other arm.
In my poshest accent I shall ask, "Excewz me sah... are my cintrewwled drugs riddih fuh colleckshnnn?"
Then I will signal my inferiority by curtseying to the might of the pharmacist.
