I found this review article on sleep tracking gadgets. They sound really good. I only gave it a brief scan, but they can do all sorts of things to track your sleep habits. One or two can even auto-record if you snore or talk in your sleep. Who wouldn't want to record nighttime mutterings? I want one!

I use 'Sleep Cycle', which I think was 69p for iOS (although I might also be making that number up). It gives you a graph each morning of when you were in deep sleep/nearly awake phases through the night and also estimates your sleep quality. There's also the option to record what's happened during the day (eg. went for a walk, stressful day, ate late), and then you can see how each activity etc has affected your sleep with another little graph. It has an alarm clock which comes on near a time that you set, but will start a little bit before if you're in a more 'awake' phase of sleep. Apparently then you have more chance of staying awake and waking up a bit brighter. I've been using it for about a year and I've found it very interesting
