hi all I started a new thread because I remember wanting to read stories of people for who this ridiculous diagnosis process has worked out for, and then it worked for me! I wrote the long story somewhere else but essentially 6 years after first broaching the subject with my Gp, I thought screwwww the expense ( )and got a private diagnosis. At the very end of September the private Dr saw me, diagnosed me, started me on meds, adjusted them via phone consultations. I had to pay for 2 private prescription (again big bucks) but the private Dr wrote to my Gp and my Gp said he would prescribe if she would share the care. Meds haven't been perfect, there have been ups and downs, prescriptions have run out and I've morned the end of a 20 year love affair with caffeine , but oh my god I have got so much done. I've caught up on so much that had previously seemed insurmountable, people have commented on how happy and calm I seem (that's because I am not living in constant shame) and I have done nothing that I fear might get me sacked since the first day on meds. Oh and I have a tidyish house AND clean clothes (I know, I know, pretty impressive for a grown woman). Thanks for your help aaddukerz, good luck to all trying to get help. <3 h.x

also the fact that I came back from the chemist and just wrote this post in 1 sitting is so so unlike me. There is still some procrastination, but nothing like before when the major feelings of my life were shame and guilt. I am trying hard to focus on the future and not think about how my life might be now if I had gotten diagnosed 10 years ago.
