I used to have horses (from age 10 to 19) and it help so much with getting physical stimulation that it was rarely noted by people in school that I was hyper. Now that I don't have that I find it hard to release all the energy. I only go to school a few times a week because it is so draining with all the people and the sounds (I guess that’s the Asperger part talking) so when I go, I run around, makes noises, sing, can't focus and I think it really bugs people but I can't help it. I have also noted that my tics are becoming increasingly worse, people are starting to notice and comment on it (it's like a weird shiver). Today and yesterday it has happened about 35 times, it is usually about 3 times a week. I ride my bike to and from school a total of 15 km and that helps a bit. But I need some energy release that doesn't drain my head.
Any Ideas? What do you do?

I bought an elliptical trainer for my garage. Cost about £300 but I use it any day where I wouldn't otherwise get exercise. It's helped me lose weight too, gone from 105kg to 75kg.

I run, it really helps burn off the nervous energy. I started with couch to 5k last year and go several times a week. It's nice because I get time to myself, but you can also join a club if you want to run with other people.

I cycle to work every day. Helps that I have to because I'm skint, but it's half an hour each way that I wouldn't otherwise be motivated to do.

Hi
I don't know how relevant this would be for you, but might be interesting for someone.
Exercise is really important for me too, but I have problems at the moment getting all the exercise I really need because, for various reasons, I am tied to the home and don't always get to go out much.
I bought a small mini trampoline and I jog or jump on that for about 30-40 minutes if I can't get out. If I am feeling a bit distracted and not focused, I put the TV on while I'm doing it to try to occupy my mind and stop me thinking of something else I should be doing and rushing off and doing it.
Sometimes I have computer work that I have to do which means I have to sit for long periods, and so every so often I get up and go on the trampoline for ten minutes to have a break. I find that as a break it is a more effective than just sitting down and having a cup of tea.
I think getting outside is always better, but as I can't always do that this works for me.

Swimming? I do weight lifting and Martial Arts... Same for me....but more combatives/self protection than martial arts. Helps to "balance" me mentally,i feel completely adrift if i have more than a week or so off I also walk 3-4 miles a day with the dog, which is a nice way to get away from everything for a bit

Yep...Same here.
I feel so lost when I miss weights/Martial arts. My martial arts style is pretty much based on street fighting, anything goes including kicking your opponent in the nads.

Thank you guys for the tips! I got new running shoes and I think I'm ready to get back to the gym. Now that the weather is better I might even go outside and run as well.
