I do have to laugh at myself sometimes. Being out of work, I am using it as a chance to change career completely to something more suiting my traits. So there I am browsing different interests... Tonight I became a boat builder for a while. That was fun, but then I became a blacksmith, because that's my dream job. Obviously forgetting that yesterday I would have made the best puppeteer in the world. I'm thinking tomorrow I might see if I can get into CERN, cos physics really interests me. I can't do journalism again cos I did that last week. Anyone else?

Yep, engineering, physics, massage, taxi driver, appliance repair man, internet retailer, various IT and most recently trailer refurbishment amongst many, many others. Some I've attempted, the more expensive/lebfthy ones I've realised I'd probably lose interest before I got there.
I actually applied for a job at CERN although not as a Physicist but in my current line of work. The Mrs vetoed it due to relocating to Switzerland. Shame, goodnpay and no tax and if I remember rightly free accommodation.
I have a school friend who worked there as a physicist and it sounded really boring. Basically programming analysis of really complex experiments that yielded nothing.
The idea of going to university for years and ending up applying for jobs doing dogsbody work helping prove someone elses theories you might not even agree with for the sake of securing a job didn't fit in with the picture in my head of thrashing out work by theoretical discussion with some Einstein-haired character in front of a blackboard.

I could have sworn I replied to this yesterday, I am in the position where I need to choose what I am going to do when I grow up, having done everything from warehouse work to cleaning super yachts' from building businesses from scratch without capital to running engineering works for the owner, painting and decorating to care work, I know I capable of doing anything I put my mind to.
There are things I would love to do, but don't have the capital to invest so have to self fund. My ideal basic income needs to be something I can do on the net, as I need to earn an English income where ever I am in the world, I have been plugging away at ideas for almost a year now, without achieving much. Yesterday I had my light bulb moment, a concept that no one else seems to have thought of. It brings together all my random knowledge in such a way I should be able to earn good money to fund those things that grab me, all of it together should eventually give me enough income to set up my wonderfully great idea, to help those of us who need time out of the 21 century! I wonder if I will change my mind tomorrow lol x
