The BBC Horizon program last night on "Living with Autism" (click here for iPlayer version) got me thinking about how I used to see things very differently as a kid and how uncomfortable I was mixing with my peers. And also, how many people on here who viewed this messageboard's shoutbox actually got grim's BOX! joke? I'll admit, I didn't see the link between SHOUTING with capital letters and the word box = shoutbox. I just assumed that it was something much more complex that I didn't get or literal and slapstick (like someone shouting BOX! for the sake of shouting "box"). Here's an interesting appraisal of the diagnostic difficulties faced when considering ASD and AD(H)D that some might find useful from the myaspergerschild site:

Oops! Great (ha!) minds think alike EDIT.....OOops again....didn't read title properly ....even though it was only nine words.... thought you were commenting on the juxtaposition/discrepancy regarding prominence/awareness/public perception

Looking back, my title is a bit confusing in trying to conflate a few points. What I'm really trying to say is that the psyches really do have to show a lot of skill in the face of many traits to truly pinpoint to what degree an AD(H)D sufferer might also be on the ASD spectrum and vice-versa given all the diagnostic overlaps. I'm also re-introducing the ASD comorbidity to long-standing members, lost souls and newcomers trying to get to grips with what condition or disorder they might have.

Pretty sure I overlap.
I watched Horizon and was interested in the experiments. Why would you tap on a box before opening it? Why would you do something pointless just because someone else did? Hey I'm proud not to be a sheep.

At the neuropsych testing at the Maudsley, one of the 'fun' games was this..... Tester....."I'm going to give you a number of words and I want you to tell me how they are the same" oooh, good, I thought, bet I'm really good at that.... Tester....."ok, so, let's start with blue and green" Me.......well, green is made out of blue....also they say that blue and green should never be seen.....etc.....and so on.... Tester....."I was looking for the answer that they're both colours!"
