Good morning all! It's been a while, I know but things are ok at the mo, just started MPH and it seems to be helping a little more than the Strattera ever did. Any who I digress In an exercise and diet class I go to, they are discussing the Chimp Paradox book. It seemed to hit a nerve with me. Not sure who has heard of it but it is basically saying we have a human part to our brain, a computer for facts and a chimp for emotions. Simplifying the brain basically. I like it so far and I don't normally read books as it takes me forever and I miss lines out and have to start again. But I may just persevere and see if it can help me come to terms with my adhd and live in Harmony with some of the symptoms I battle with daily. I shall write more about it when I have read some more of the book. I was also wondering what people thought about this approach and if it maybe useful for people with adhd. Em xxx

I am also reading this right now and am finding it quite interesting - the chimp pics are cute also! Suspect it may be useful for learning to manage emotions and impulsivity. Quite liked the idea of exercising then boxing your chimp, or feeding it bananas! Have you named your chimp yet? I am struggling to come up with a name for mine.

I'm really struggling with a name too! Not sure on gender of it either lol At first I felt overwhelmed by the book and resistant to the changes it wants me to make even though I want the changes. Weird but I am trying to persevere, getting there slowly Hope it is helpful for you

Yip, I haven't decided on gender either, although maybe it will become more apparent by the end of the book. Am only about halfway through. Would be interested to know what you make of it when you get to the end.

I've listened to the audiobook via Audible.co.uk, but struggle to remember most of what i've heard! Story of my life!! I find it easier to 'get through' 'books' via audio format compared with reading. I have found that both listening and seeing the words at at the same time has helped retention considerably, I realised this when coming across Youtube videos that were shot with both words on the screen and audio playing at the same time. Hope this helps ps - as for the book and the chimp, I've had success managing him, when I remember to do so that is! Again, story of my life!!
