I now think that my symptoms point to me having been living with a case of hypoadrenalism. Putting that to one side for the moment, I will talk about that more once the blood test results are back.
Now I have been through the mental health system, and this is the first blood test I have had. Every physical symptom I have ever mentioned is just brushed aside, and any mention of any sort of test is just met with disinterest. It's only now that I have gone to my GP and asked directly to test my adrenal glands, have I been offered any sort of test, and this is only a basic blood test.
Is this a common experience? Those of you who have received an ADHD diagnosis, or are waiting to receive a diagnosis what sort of tests have you had to rule out any physical problems?

Sounds like you have a bad gp if you have made it to mental health services without ruling out anything else first :-(
I hope you get the answers you need.
Over the years I have been tested for anemaia, thyroid function, diabeties (cant spell either) various hormone levels.
Probably other stuff I can't remember.
I would have thought adreanal could be a symptom or a cause of various things? Complicated stuff.

To clarify those tests were not for the adhd presentation, more for none specific issues that i can now see were always part of living with adhd.

Thyroid - but only because it is mandatory to test when prescribed lithium.

The main thing I have been tested for over the years is heart problems and diabeties ( years ago as it runs in the family ). The main reason for Heart checks was all my pains in chest and arms and sometimes legs but soon as they put me on the big computer checker that don't wanbt to do any further tests and its all OK .
Then after years and years I agree to see mental health and turns out most pains are due to anxiety and that my anxiety is due to ADHD and the reason I was checked for diabeties was due to me going faint and drying out but this turns out to be anxiety aswel.
I still worry though sometimes about things but most not if all can be linked to anxiety and stress with comes from ADHD

The anxiety body stuff is pretty amazing. I have recently been going through a lot of painful memories and processing them. My back was so tight and tense. When things were coming from the unconscious into my awareness certain muscles related to that emotion were twitching and I felt about 2yrs old at one point, really small. After crying and re-living those feelings the muscle tightness went away. Totally amazing how we unconsciously fight painful things to protect ourselves, well, our humility.
