Was just thinking back to the Bruce Willis/Samuel L Jackson film 'Unbreakable'... For those that don't know, the plot is that Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson) is born with Type I osteogenesis imperfecta, a rare disease in which bones break easily. As revealed later in flashbacks, Elijah draws on comic books he has read during his many hospital stays to theorise that, if he is frail at one extreme, then perhaps there is someone "unbreakable" at the opposite extreme.
Make me wonder if all these world beating 'Captain's of industry' and leaders in all walks of life that we see, tremendously organised, intelligent, confident, are the opposite extreme from what we are ?
I've read that people with ADHD can be Captain's of industry/leaders in their in own right... I'd guess these are the exception rather than the norm though ?

I seem to recall a horizon program about this, the top leaders tend to be borderline psychopaths.

I read somewhere that the opposite of ADHD might be schizophrenia.

If honest I think the reason ADHD comes up with being leaders etc.. Is ADHD has stubborn ways.
On the other parts don't like being told what to do , angry , in your face , loud , thinking outside the box and other things makes a good call for a leader and people around you want to be a part of it or follow as it comes across strong.
But on the other hand it can be a time bomb waiting to happened.
Let's just I was in charge of the country , may of done a good job and got on with the leader of France ( France just popped in my head )
If the French leader woke me up and I was not in the mood to talk about wine is better then beer and I had the big red button next to me then without thinking I would push it ( we now have nukes on the way to France ) then it kicks in my head maybe I over reacted , but think sh*t what am I going to do.
So I phone the French leader and say sorry but now his pi**ed off I just think well I tried to sort it out.
But now to get out of my mess I need to press the red button again to counter act others firering at me.
Then the call comes from the leader of the usa " WHATS GOING ON !!! " So I say errrrrrrr I sliped .
Now what seemed like a great idea of me and ADHD becoming a leader as now just started the world.
So yes ADHD do make for good leaders and you get people who want to follow and feel safe as you as a leader.
But if you hit a dead end or crash on your meds then it could all get out of hand.
But on a really true note now its not as simple as are people with ADHD better leaders as the simple thing to say is NO
anyone with the right frame of mind can be a leader it takes years of building up and prooving your the person.
ADHD comes with all sort of other problems as a sideline not many if any at all just have ADHD , there's loads of ad ons that show up later.
Depression , anxiety , ocd , learning problems etc.. Etc..
So to say ADHD is a master for a leader not right.
There are many adhd skills that can take you far in life but just as many to break you in the blink of an eye.
They say the best leaders was at one time the follows but I don't no about others I have never followed no one so it would be my way or no way.
Don't ever give me the power you have been warned haha
The worst thing is people see this person on the outside. but what gos on in your head when at home etc... Is not the good part of ADHD at all and not nice that's the part of ADHD that for me is the big downside , I not got time to run my own life , so to be a leader I would have no chance.
All the company's I have run now and in the past have had to be family and when I say family I mean me and the other half , no one would out up with me as a boss and I would not put up with a boss.
But then with the other half doing the donkey work ( the main part that keeps the company going ) it would if gone bust years ago.
So that's my way of looking at me as a leader , on my own beware world , with my non ADHD wife OK long as I get to do the fun stuff and she does the real work haha

I see successful ADHDers less as leaders and more Edison or Da Vinci type characters who bounce tons of ideas around and stumble on some world changing discovery in the process.
Of all the very successful people I've come across I would say the main underlying trait is a lack of empathy.
I've run a few businesses but aside from organisational problems my main barrier to success seems to be an inability to exploit and disassociate the effect making profit has on other people.
I started retailing online at the same time as a friend from school. I soon quit whilst he done very well. The product range he chose was very morally questionable, he got an apprentice because it was cheap labour and subcontracts most of his work to the far east for a pittance.
I think the same can be said for a lot of world leaders, how can they not feel any sense of responsibility for sending poor young men and women to the death in the army and be supportive of action like what is happening in Gaza at the moment? A brief analysis of history will show it's the borederline psychopathic that often seem to rise to the top as mentioned above.
Actually I read something interesting recently that could tally up with that assertion but my battery is about to die.
